Got a funny story to tell ya about my ride home over the Pig,came down the "Brothers" at some speed to encounter a certain someone passing a couple of scooters going up,a tad close and we could have done a high 5 as we passed.

Well that's the Brass done and dusted for me Set off from Rollyberg this morning. First stop Kurow via the Hakataremea Valley/Pass for a pie and fuel. Pie was good but when fueling up I noticed the engine was covered with some strange looking mud A quick poke confirmed my suspicions that it was oil, but where from?Click image for larger version.

ID:	209522 It would appear that when the bike was in for its 36000km service somebody has forgotten to tighten the tappet cover on the front cylinder. Fortunately the Kurow garage had some 4T oil to top up and a litre bottle to get me home. Getting at the tappet's involves removing the fairings, tank and air-box & I was not too keen on doing that at the side of the road.

Perhaps I should have had an inkling all was not right when I checked the tyre pressures last night and saw this Click image for larger version.

ID:	209523 The bike had only been ridden home from being serviced at the bike shop. Somebody forgot to do up the lock-nuts as well.

Frigging annoying when you pay good money for shit service that f**ked up what should have been a great weekend. Some bike shop is not going to have a happy start to their week Tuesday morning.

Well considering I live only an hour's ride away from the BM and the look of the forecast for Sunday morning... I decided to only go up for the day. It looked pretty amazing up there with all the snow.

Could't risk breaking that - then I'd be in real trouble

I will never understand why people put their bikes/cars in for service just before a big trip...heres a tip, get it serviced a week before the big trip and then use it for the days prior, any 'problems' will show up sooner rather than later. I work in the motor trade and it amazes me how a car's engine is rebuilt and the owner MUST take it on a trip to the North Island even before it is actually ready to go...i.e before it has been properly tested by the tech that did the work. And what pisses me off even more is the Service Manager lets them go!!!! Invariably there is a 'teething problem' on their first leg of their journey and their trip is ruined. If only they had given us time to test it we would have found the problem and sorted it. So PLEEEEEEEASE have the service done with plenty of time to spare!!! Rant over. Thank you.

Very true. I find it usually takes a couple of days of tinkering to put my bikes right and fix them up again after getting them back from a "service".
