'How many riders out there have genuinely experienced the heart sinking feeling of seeing a Popo fly past you in an oncoming lane, looking at the speedo, seeing that you are well over the speed limit, by say 30km+ p/hr, and then looking in the rear vision mirror to see the Popo turn on the blue and reds guns blazing'

That has happened, some time ago now, we were almost at the foot of the Bombays in the outside lane sitting 130 heading North. Over the brow, a cop heading the other way, a quick check in the mirrors and see the break lights brighten! Just hit the incline and up it to 140 weaving in and out, got to the top, pull into the BP area and Anne says '' do you need to go to the toilet''? um no, did you not see the Cop?
He may have just been parking up for all I know.

had one experience whilst riding home from work at 2.30 in the morning (on my restricted) doing about 120-30 when the popo comes past me and flicked his lights on. i did a quick calculation in my head that if i get pulled up i lose my license so decided fuck it. decided when i got home i need a bigger bike
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

It is , in fact, not a ridiculous argument. I have on several occasions been tootling along , not speeding because I never speed , speed kills (this I know, for the government tells me so), but perhaps a little confused about units of measure (so hard to keep them straight now we have all these confusing kilomegjublees and such). And seen and heard lights and siren coming up from behind ; or seen the cop brake and start to turn. Oh shit, what to do, best pull over (never been a big enough one to contemplate running); and then had the cop go screaming past. Early closing at the donut shop, or axe murderer on the loose, who knows.

Even the cops have admitted that it's not a pursuit if the person being pursued doesn't know they are being pursued. And I never know I'm being pursued. My natural innocence, compounded by elderly confusion, makes me always sure that I could not possibly be speeding. It must be those damn kilomegajublees again.
I had an interesting experience in the cage today. Said cage is very very little and rather elderly but is capable of motorway speeds with enough of a run up. Was driving along a road in Glenfield area and got up to the lights, only to notice blue and reds behind me. Traffic lights changed and I pootled forward only to be followed by the aforementioned blue and reds, only now with added siren. Duly pulled over to be told I had been going north of 65 in a 50 zone. So I suppose that was some form of "pursuit", with me completely unaware until just before the noisemaker came on.

I expressed some surprise, particularly given my elderly vehicle ("Well bugger me", I said, "I would never have guessed that I was speeding in this old crapper"), so the cop took my license away for a quick chat to his computer/handler, decided I was a good sort, and came back to encourage me to keep the speed down and be on my way with a warning.

The scary part is I honestly did not think I was driving at speed at all, and I did not notice the flashing lights until I happened to glance in the mirror at the lights. My situational awareness has obviously gone to crap.

Anyway, back on topic. No I would not do a runner. Neither my car nor my bike would outrun a fit cop on a bicycle, so there's no point. Also If they see your plate or get a pic (are there cameras in the cars?) you are screwed. Not worth it. Pay up and smile, or keep the speed down.

It pays to check your mirrors every few seconds.

Iv had afew run ins with the law. But only once ran. After geting T boned n my car a week earlyer and on acc board out my mind i risked taking out the cr250 just to pick something up. Got around two corners and bang a cop was in the sholder dealing with a boy racer. I swear he must of jumped strait in his car as soon as i casualy rode past. So i take the first left and am hard on the twist for about a km and think iv lost him. Next thing, lights in the distance gaining on me. So back on the twist and now over the kurb and onto a park. But dead end, so whip it around and snaking strait for the cop car thats just kumin up to the park. Pop onto the back wheel right past the cops going now the wrong way. And i disapear.............. Second run in. On a ninja this time stuck behind 4 cars and an 18 wheeler, the passing lane is running out and im geting pissed sitting on 80-90. So hit it right over to the opasite side as its clear and pass the lot. Not knowing there was a mufty leading the group. Didnt even notice him. Next I see him half an hour later in the distance behind me. So i pull over. Get yelled at by a very mad cop. Lose my licence, bike and get a date with the judge. Speeding dosnt pay

In the situation I had this morning, it was more a convenience option to do a left hand turn in darkness instead of going straight. I did speed up a little to get there a bit quicker whilst popo wasn't in sight......
Popo didn't see me turn off, and carried on. I felt stupid afterwards, and I did feel rather intrigued by the change in my decision making ability under pressure.
My advice as stated above is to pull over and take it like a man, just not sure how many demerits I have left lol......
I was going to ask “ did you turn at the first left you came to” but you say here you did.
I have heard that while in the not stopping while others are wishing you to stop situation that most people turn first left...... I understand the police know this as well, if it were me in that car and had lost sight of you My bet would have been to turn first left as well.... just for shits and giggles.

I like to tell a story or three but can't on the grounds that it would incriminate me.
