Another biker down, seriously injured.

Yesterday sometime, around lunch time, a female rider, friend of mine, came off her Triumph cruiser in Woodcocks Road.
She is a well known local lass who does alot of work with youth and public events. Not sure of any details about crash or causes, weather was wet and slippery and patch where accident was has alot of bare tar and uneven bits. No other vehicles appear involved.
Rider has serious head injuries, had surgery relieving pressure to the brain and removing clotts. Still sedated in an induced coma as I understand.
Thoughts are with you precious, hopefully the Lord not ready for you yet, and we'll see you out there on the roads again.

I think I can safely say that?

Not good. I can only assume she would have been wearing a helmet so head injuries must mean a fairly serious off.

Hopefully they can bring her around sooner rather than later.

The helmet came off somehow, was found separated from the rider in the accident. Wasn't any other noted injuries, speed was deemed under 80km so all a bit weird really. .
I will pass on the thoughts and regards when she is conscious, hopefully soon.

Perhaps not properly fastened? I must confess I've come home from work a couple of times and gone to remove my helmet only to find I'd forgotten to do it up!

I do plead old age and senility,

but it can happen. If you have a windshield you can ride without noticing it's undone.

Sorry to hear about this and certianly hope for a speedy recovery.
I'm with you Ed. I always do up my helmet but came back from a relatively hard ride two and half hours long a couple of weeks back and when I went to remove my helmet, found I had forgotten to do up the strap. Was due to the fact my normal routine was interuppted with the fitting of my neck warmer which of course meant the strap didn't swing about alerting me to the fact once underway.

Once of only 2 times it's happened to me since getting back into bike five years ago with 80,000kms under my belt since then. It happens.

Not saying that's the case here but helmets don't normally come off if correctly fitting.

It put the shits up me the first few times it happened, but the best thing you can do when that happens is try to relax and let the bike do its own thing instead of trying to fight it.
