The guy who came 14th overall. His last lap he got a 47, rest of his laps were over 50minutes. Seems abit weird that someone can randomly be 3 minutes faster
maybe but i managed to do may last lap 5 minutes faster than my first two and I didn't cheat anywhere I did get lost on my second not long after the start didn't even realise until I started wontdering why there were no arrows and saw a few others backtracking, had bad arm pump for half the first lap then got stuck behind one very smoky ktm on one of those long uphills. Had a great day many thanks to the wmmc, acheived my goal of finishing and not coming last haha. Passed a few people on the hills and one through that big puddle, had a few stupid lowspeed offs which really seem to suck the energy. Almost made it up the hill by pits and saw a few loop it out big time there.

Those of you who winge about people not pulling over for you its a race everyone pays to be there why should they stop and make it easy for you htfu. I figure half the challenge is finding a way to make a pass If theres clear bit of track I'll pull to a side a bit so the person behind me can pass but get stuffed if I'm going bush in the twisty stuff for you.

Great videos bill, taking the smart route I see , my picks were ktmboys effort and the ktm near the end of the 2nd vid, I thought he was looping out, but he caught it just.
Can't remember a hill like that the two times I've done the dead toad, sounds like even more hill climbing practise before the next one ( cross fingers fit next time ).

Yes, its a race not a trail ride. Racing believe it or not has some rules and eddicit.
Rory Mead came up behind me about 5mins before the end. I pulled over because it was obvious that he was faster. He too was aghast at the lack of racing knowledge.
iIs not a case of HTFU, its just curtisy.
How about I just block pass and take out all the novice and slower riders? Not just me but every fast rider does it. Who would be moaning then. I bet you'd then be complaining about my tactics after being dumped 20 odd times.

Yes well... I went over the log, looked up, and went fark, not prepared for this.

Hill climbs are not my fortee but worth having a crack eh.

That's my take to, I let faster guys past, they have their own races and a few seconds won't affect me, besides if you can keep up you learn from them & at the end of the race they'll happily have yarn and you pick up a few good tips.

Hell yeah, looked like you damn near made it, if there had been a line there like later, my money is you would have.

I suspect you are understating your ability to climb hills somehow.

Yeah, I figure that too, for the fast people seconds count. For me not so much Although sometimes it's hard to find a place to let them pass when it's really tight. Bit awkward riding along with someone yelling/revving their engine at you till you find somewhere with enough space to scoot off to the side :x
What is the normal etiquette for passing? I wasn't really sure how it went down so I would just trundle along behind until I found an opportunity, like if they were slow at corners or uphills or whatever. When the faster girls started coming around they'd yell, sometimes knock bars to pass etc - fine by me, just like in the derby days And sort of inevitable on a tight track. I didn't try any of that stuff since it's not like I'm that fast or good anyway, but where's the line between being competitive and being a dick? Cause I'd like to pass quicker, but don't wanna cheese anyone off at the same time.

Haha! Expect to get shunted pretty bad then! I've had to do it a couple of times for the muppets who refuse to move :P

And when you get people like rory mead that are coming behind you like a cutcat you are going to want to move, its good to have respect for those 20x your pace.

I find if they wont move when you set right on their arse for a while they end up running themselves off the track usually works best on a small straight they end up out braking themselves going into the next corner.

To true. This happened a couple of times. Twice said muppets tried to go faster to block me. They ended up binning it and thus taking me down as well. One even left his bike, then went and sat down by the track. I just road over his bike. swt.

Nice move bikes make awesome traction, was going to say the only real trick to to know when they are about to bin it.

i am with the few above me, on trail rides i will not push to get past people but in races its game on, if you catch someone quickly ill give them a quick rev to let them know i am there, but if they do not try to let me past ill make it through, sometimes bashing bars or elbows, i am normally travelling much quicker when this happens,

esp when you are getting lapped you should let guys past in teh tight stuff,

Depending on the situation, I will let people pass straight away or they can wait for me to find a place that suits me. In an enduro when your racing against the clock, not other people, I will move over as soon as I hear them behind me, if they catch me then they are obviously faster because they started after I did, so ill move over, loose some time, follow the faster rider and gain the lost time back because im following someone who is faster.
In a cross country, ie a race against other people, if they catch me gradually, then their probably not much faster, if they appear as if from no where then ill move over as they are clearly faster.

Making faster riders wait for any more than 30 odd seconds is ludicrous, I hate being held up for any length of time, so I dont make faster riders wait.
I followed some sort of big bore 4 stroke in a special test once, got stuck behind him for half the test because he wouldnt move over and I couldnt pass due to it being freshly cut single track, and he couldnt understand why I got angry when the test had finished.... \
we may just go where no ones been
