great day! The major accident was apparently a broken pelvis, but I thought it was an MV Augusta, not an RSV4. Hope the guy's okay

Apparently the tyres that the guy is the rep for...

My first ever track day. Loved it. Bugger road riding.
Great atmosphere. I found people ever so friendly and helpful.

6 classes made for a lot of sitting around waiting - a bit more track time would have been nice.

First two sessions I rode in Class C - the 'no passing' class (Ha! Riding quietly behind riders who were finding there pace was slower than mine was fine. Getting passed by all the folks who don't know how to drop back to find a gap was irritating...)

After lunch I went out with the B group (passing allowed). The organisers decided to combine B and A but give A a headstart. Which was fine for the first three laps and then HOLY SHIT as the fast guys caught up and swamped me. That was a bit spooky.

In summary - when's the next one?

Well good on him for doing his own R&D on the tyres he sells................ probebly not the outcome he was hoping for!!!!!!!!!!! Would have thought the OEM tyre fitment was specific for such a machine (maybe even special compound/carcass) but im not a tyre salesman.......

After a long lunch break = Cold tyres, cold brakes, cold body but a brain wanting to build on last session...

Oh yes that combination has claimed many............. along with the last session of the day which usually has a victim (one last hot lap+ tired body+ worn tyres+ cooler track temp = oopps)

Looking at the pattern of Shinkos it would seem they are the using the old yokahama pattern..................fantastic tyre in its day( particually in drag racing/with 300-400 hp) but never did like corners and had to be verrrrry warm from memory.
Dunlop/Pirelli/Metzeler dealers not slitting their wrists just yet eh

I liken it to skiing. About the time that you decide to do 'just one more run' before home - DONT.

Anyone know when the next track day is?

I know I can go out ever Tue/Fri but its more fun having others to play with

I had a great time, My first time on the track too. i will definately be back for more.
I started in the C group and also found the no passing thing a bit silly, After the first couple of laps there were people passing all over the place which was a bit disconcerting at first but from the second session onwards it was all good.

In that combined A and B session after the accident I counted 77 bikes on track!, Some of the B guys came in halfway through a bit pissed off, not sure why they chose to run them combined, as if you think about it they were only saving 15 minutes by running them together.

The next one according to the latest Sportzone newsletter is at Levels on 19th September.

    Cant wait.
