I'm sorry for stirring such memories Dave. That definately wasn't my intention. I don't agree with the IRA going after the military in any way shape or form, but I understand it from the point of view where governments that fight "terrorism" will send every resource at their disposal (our defence force) to stop those it classes as being terrorists.

I did see a lot of the "conflict" on TV as a "kid", but I also asked plenty questions about it and to this day I can't understand why the british government doesn't give Northern Ireland back to the Irish. After all that is what the IRA were originally fighting for, to have their own country back. The british government given up sooooo many of the colonies over the last 50 years or so, why not Ireland? especially when "mission" statements, such as the one posted, are going to target peoples lives. I forgot, we don't negotiate with terrorists (one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter), even if they're only asking for their country back.

I have a MASSIVE problem with any conflict, primarily as it's usually financially motivated, i mean, why fight for humanitarian reasons in Iraq and completely ignore Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa? Money! So it seems logical to me to go after those who wage "social war" on every continent and all because they want some more of that valuable "paper"?

Bankers and financial institutions are an insult humanity.

It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

not sure if I read you post correctly , anyway there were 2 big bombs in London back in the early 1990s , one was in the city of London , the other over kilburn way ,

I was going to bed when the city of London one happened and that was a big bang ,,, , and the scary thing was the guys that made the bomb , lived just round the corner from me and would have drank at the same pub,

we were caught up in quite a few incidences during that time , missing bombs by literally minutes .
I have been lucky , having had the luck of the Irish , Living in Rathcoole (sp) and having family that weren't exactly squeaky clean , I somehow manage to just miss stuff that hit the fan ( and it did )

As for Bankers Where do I start , Greed and the need for profit has destroyed communities. The mess called New Zealand , where a very small group have some money , and a very large group Think they do , leaving the rest with 2/5th of nowt , (and the corresponding social collapse ) is directly attributable to the reforms put in place by the idealist under direction from ( wall street, the bond market )

Mr Key that smiling Bounder , was instrumental in those reform , he sold NZ up the river ( and forgets the exact date when he was on the other end of the telephone to a Mr Krieger )

Keep following these failed ideal or bowing to the pressures of the bond market and NZ (is ) will reap what it sows ...( on saying that Nz economic policies of over succesive governments have been very prudent in the eyes of the markets )

First look after your people , food , health , education , THEN EXPORT and make the money , but you cant export , if you have an over wieght illeterate workforce .....

( you can if your expors are apples, not much of an education needed to pick those , but then the income isnt so hot, so the wheel turns )

Nail em UP I say NAIL EM up !!!!!

They weren't always and not all of them are and you could argue that NI is just another British colony, and one that should have been given back a long time ago and thereby saving a lot of unnecessary bloodshed.

Absolutely. I reckon the people of Ireland would settle for peace, IF a United Ireland is all it would take. If you want a British passport, then why wouldn't it be granted? People hold dual citizenship don't they?

You could argue a whole heap of nonsense. It doesn't make you right. And it doesn't mean you should.

    thanks for that.

I see back in the 30's everyone seemed happy with what they had. I see in the late 90's there was, what I would call a reneging on the deal amendment, to the original agreement... voted for ONLY by the people of NI. 94% being the result. Funny that... and part of the amendment was to article 2, where they decided not to recognise Irelands status as being a National Territory... wouldn't annoy anyone would it?

We can go around the houses, but once upon a time there was a peace. Why did it change?

Very true. I'm not trying to be right. Very true, as there are other ways to go about it, lord knows they've tried... I know i can't change a thing, but that doesn't mean I can't think about it, or muse over how the "intelligent" growd ups couldn't organise a piss up in a brothel. That's how it looks to me, naive maybe.
