Car mechanics - Subaru Legacy cutting out

OK not bike related, but my 2L non turbo legacy (2000 Brighton) cut out tonight whilst turning into my driveway. It's threatened to do this a couple of times - I live on a slight incline road and the car really struggles to pull up the hill without flooring the accelerator. I've noticed this on several inclines/hills and even pulling away from lights etc on the level it feels lethargic. No warning lights came on and it started straight away. The car has given me no trouble at all and has had no work done to it.
    Any ideas?

Take it to a mechanic to get the ECU fault checked. It often costs nothing, and it should give you a quick diagnosis.

Yeah that's what the clubsub site reckon, although it's easy to tell without taking it to a mechanic. Ta very much. Eh internet diagnostics

Yeah people should stop asking peoples opinions on the internet.

God does it hurt to have someone ask a question?

Does it have exhaust oxygen sensor? Take it out and clean it if so. Free and sounds like what you describe.

    Burn it.

Use the insurance to get a bike.

    Problem solved.

    Your welcome.

Could be several things with those symptoms.

Heaps on information on the internet on how to get the trouble codes off your ECU. Plenty of information about the EJ20 floating around, just look it up and follow your nose.

Yeah maybe I should just go and ask down the pub instead, they're bound to know! Oh and while I'm there I'll ask their opinions on buying a K100RS, seeing as the internet just isn't for that kind of thing.

Will check the ECU codes first as a starting point and then take it from there.
Thanks for all the help guys
