AFAIK Henry was (as always) 'trying' to be funny - a wind up to see how JK would handle it (as someone mentioned earlier).

Ok - he may have overstepped the mark but that often happens with 'humour'.

Hone on the other hand......not trying to be funny and pretty blatant, and you know he believes every word of it.

And yes I enjoy jokes based on race. Even ones poking fun of my race...if you can't laugh at yourself eh.....Some may say that it a slippery slope from racist jokes to tension and violence etc but many would just say get over it. Its a fucken joke FFS.

Its certainly fair to say, and not racist, shortest, tallest or sexist, that if you took a picture of Mr. Satyanand to any of the world capital cites, and asked people to guess of which country he was the head, that New Zealand would not be terribly high on the list.

The truth about what though? His original statement wasn't truthful, it was wrong and based purely on an assumption he made based on the colour of the Governor Generals skin.

The Governor General was born and raised here, educated in Glen Innes and has spent his entire life working in the public service as well as contributing to numerous community groups and Rugby League administration. He also speaks with a very heavy Kiwi accent, and from all account is a good bugger.

However, the point that PH (I think) was trying to make is: Should the appointment of the GG be an exercise in affermative action / social engineering? Because if you really think that ethnicity had nothing to do with Satchathingy's appointment, I have a bridge for sale...I reckon our current GG is probably lucky there were no non-white gay candidates.
