Uses for old bike oil

Good for starting the fire.
An old pot belly in the garage had a 20l drum hanging nest to the flue with a copper pipe dripping oil inside. Worked really well.

YES... It's a great fire starter in the workshop pot belly..But if you're in central ChCh watch out for the smoke nazis...

The oil/kero mix is also good chainsaw chain lube.

Some years back a friend of mine scored an oil sponsorship for the season - the idiot used most of the free oil in his van until I pointed out that the oil which came out of the racebike was way better than the crap he had been using in the van up till then.

I owned an old piece of shit Corolla years ago. It had the super death rattle cam chain and used a bit of oil. It just kept on going and wouldn't die. For about 3 years I never changed the oil in it, simply kept tipping a bit of whatever came to hand.
So yes. If you don't care then go for it.

It's just plain bad manners the way reality doesn't follow folks pet theories...

I have oil i need getting rid of... who accepts it? any garages?

The two Christchurch rubbish tips recycle engine oil for free.

Bring the oil in a bottle, and pull into the recycling area instead of the dump area. You should find large containers, with a large filter over it. Dump your oil in that.

They can refine all the old stuff into usable oil. Although someone I used to work with claimed it all just got shipped to the wood work places and burnt in the furnaces.

I use it as chain bar oil or I light the fire with it.

The stuff you take to the tip is sold as fuel oil and burnt in boilers.

Have recently done an oil change and now have 2 ish litres of old four stroke bike oil kicking around.
I also have an old hilux kicking around which tends to burn a small amount of oil wondering if its possible to use my old bike oil to keep the hilux topped up.
Obviously not going to do a complete change just top up a little now and then.
And yes I also realise that its old oil already and not going to be the best for my truck but its a bloody tough old toyota so can handle it, plus its only gunna burn the stuff any way!
Just wondering if these any major dangers of throwing a little bike oil in the mix?
