so far I'm likin the TKC 80 rear....but it don't hold on too well on black shiney wet bits of road....but if you avoid those bits its fine! ...oh and its awsome on gravel!!
It kinda slips outside the cheap zone for me.
My local has these (Pirelli MT-70) for about $140. There is not much info on the net about them, but I think Clint ran some a few years back, Care to chime in Clint?
Looks like a pretty good cheap option when I need a less off-roady tire.

Pirelli MT21 front and Mitas E-07 rear.
Yep I've used a set of those, then quite a few rears in combination with TKC80 fronts which worked well. The front is a bit roady for proper adv use but it stuck damn well on the tar & was acceptable on gravel if you didn't push it too much.
The rears stick really well on the tar too, & are great on the gravel when new, but they wear out pretty quick, well toasted by 4500km IIRC, 3 rears to a front
That's why I changed to the Mitas E0-7 as my fav all purpose rear, the E0-7's still have as much tread depth & bite on gravel at 6000km as the MT-70 did at 3000km. The harder compound of the E0-7 doesn't stick quite as well on the tar but it's not too bad considering they last twice as long.
$140 is pretty good, last I checked they were $170ish.
Cheers

At the moment Shinko e-705's from www.bits4bikes.co.nz are $106.13 for a 21" front and $124.60 for a 130/17" rear.
I couldn't see any????
I'm really impressed the Dunlop 606 fronts - last a long time & no worries on the gravel or seal. The E07s are amn excellent tyre too - they are as grippy as the knobblier 09's when new to mid used however last a long long time. Not good for river crossings when worn tho
I don't really rate the MT21s - as they say they are good when new but crap when half worn - it would be good if you could return them for a trade in when they're half worn

That bits4bikes site is really half arsed. It could have been so much better but alas....![]()
would a 110/100x18 be the same as a 120/90x18 ?
