It's the collective that make things hard. The groups who think that they're better than everyone else because they think alike, therefore they must be right... the ones who think they know better because they know more stuff than the other people do (whereas, in reality, the other people just know different stuff, but not as important
), have more money, have status, have power... you meet them day in and day out, most likely sit next to them at work (and still get on, shock horror) or read their "thoughts" on internet forums (yes i do see the irony in all of the above tyvm)...
It's those groups that stop mankind from "evolving", because they feel that mankind needs guidance and control... to a certain extent they're right, but not implementing the "guidelines" through law and threat, but through education. Not just school education, but the education of acceptance not capitulation, the education of self and not conformity, the education of trust, courtesy, consideration blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda etc etc etc on and on and on... fuckin easy, yet the most elusive things on the planet, because we're not in "control" of ourselves, and some of that is by choice.
Chuck the financial system and most of that will come to fruition pretty damn quickly.

Er...no.
The Roman civilisation fell as a consequence of military and political failure. It was sliced up by new dynamic armies, not because the Romans ran out of resources and had too many people.
However there are historical parallels: Easter Island is the classic example. It was once a vibrant society until they cut down all the trees......when discovered by European explorers there were a few hundred starving wretches left alive. This is a civilisation which built the Moai, no small feat on a remote Pacific Island.
Or consider the collapse of the Mesopotamian Civilisation. Its regarded as the birthplace of modern civilisation (agriculture, cities) yet collapsed very suddenly because of excess population and poisoned land from irrigation.

Its like we're all singing the same tune but we cant agree on the lyrics eh
Comes down to eveyone one being responsible for thier actions, based on basic moral integrity...

I'd like to build a world a home
and furnish it with love.
Grow apple trees and honey bees
and snow white turtle doves.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time - It's easy.
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
I'm all for moral law and capital justice where necessary.

What do you get when you have over consumption due to excessive demand with limited supply?....
Extinction.
Adapt or die mother fuckers.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
You get price fixing. No more, no less. With NO concern for the human cost. It's business, not personal
(I DETEST that disassociation term with a passion)... that's the attitude that's fucking us up.

Twas exactly that song I had in mind with that last post......
And Im also in agreement with you on Capital punishment, with the way the place is going especially in the West we need to change our thoughts on the Right to Life, and its supposed rights asscociated with it. Its not a Right, its a Privilege... If you want the "privileges" that go with then you need to earn them,& this has nothing to do with money by the way, but everything to do with being an asset to our society & worth the time & space you occupy.

How does 1 person make a difference? The only way I can see us changing things is at a political level. To make that change is going to take guts.
The only thing politicians listen to is votes (not voters). I garantee that if at the next election there was a huge swing to the Greens then the major parties would sit up and take note and we might see some more progressive gutsy policy and action come out of the major parties.
The idea of living with the Greens in power is a little worrying but if that's what it takes to get things happening on a wider level then I think its worth it.

Im kind of thinking the same thing....just started a thread on politicians with integrity to get an idea of where the sentiment lies & with whom. Maybe individuals with merit & not parties might be the future, try & get rid of this "colour" association problem people seem to have...so many seem to be put off by the colour of thier hoardings, or of thier party flag & so blinker themselves to the good ideas & policies they might have
I too, have been guilty of this...
