Cool, have fun chick. You never know you might get the bug to do the whole thing but it does take a fair bit of training.

i used to do the rainbow rage mountain bike one,then a coupla mates said you may as well get a road bike ,carry on training,and do taupo too....that was a buzz,prolly the fitest i been in my life.The pace certainly backed of in the 10 k before hatepe,but it was all on from the top!

Same, spent many a morning in spin classes and riding over the aka's, Haywards, Paekakariki back to home in the weekends building up to it. Set myself a time of 6 hours and did in around 5-40ish from memory so i was stoked. ( I caned Hatepe ) Was a strong head wind after that back to Taupo that was a bitch as i thought it would be a coast in, but na it was a slog all the way.
