Fucken right you wouldn't. After wobbling around on a shitty ol MHR that Yammy would scare the beejesus outta an old boy like you. You'd have to change your incontenance pad 4 times between your place and Picton.

mine is 16 years old. almost 17 soon. mine was 2.5k worth. I do not believe that when I come to sell it in about 18 months I should lose much money on her. Oh, and I like my bike a lot she is one loud fucker for a bike with stock exhausts (none of this low emission/noise crap in 1994 )

I do not think age matters too greatly, you are just 'more likely' to have an issue with the bike, especially if there is not a lot of service history available for the bike in question. It just comes down to being able to access parts for the bike and figuring out the 'issues' with certain bikes. Like the cbr mc19 has fuel pump issues, and are a lot of money for a part that is pretty darn tiny.

that isn't to say that i'd steer clear of them

I think also some bikes are just desirable even if they are 20 years old. the honda spada comes to mind, a lot of people on here love those bikes.

the zeal I own was made from like 1990/91 to 1999 i think, and in aussie they have a headlight fairing thing that i saw on a 2000 model. so 10 or so years producing a very similar bike must not be too bad when having to acquire parts.

for the budget you are in, the 10 to 20 year old bikes are pretty much what you need to look at for the naked or faired sport bikes. the only newer bike that you might get for 4k is a hyosung.
