Great pics transalper - that looks like fun to me. There must have been a time when a large proportion of NZ roads were "unmade" like those in your pics. Did people ride their motorcycles on those roads back then? Yes they did and not only that, the bikes were far less reliable and safe than they are now...

These are the best from the Western Valley Rd option four of us took....
Only a couple of WNRiders still at the Taitapu Pub when we arrived but we still hung about for food and a chat anyway.
It was a nice evening thanks guys.

You done really well last night on your big boy! I had fun on the 1100 Honda, although was great to jump back on the 250 and throw it round the corners on the way home, Peeteey, Ecclesnz and myself went back round the bays.

Hope I wasn't too slow for you Peeteey Good to have my wingman back!

I'd agree with that, it's still great fun but it seems more ... fragmented recently with different people going different places etc, and not as structured as they were, with a definite leader and TEC

I think it's just not as structured as it was. There were quite a few of us last night that had no idea where we were going to how we were getting there, and even who was going where because of all the options being bantered around.
like I replied to HOT, I liked the structure of it, keeping the group together more, definite leader, TEC, meet up points etc.
For me the big joy is riding with the group and when everyone is off doing their own thing I feel that kind of suffers a bit ... I love seeing people before and after the ride, as we still do, but I also love seeing people during the ride too!

Ditto! I'm already looking forward to next week

Yes you guys were missed! Even tho I never see you guys during the ride, unless you're screaming past me, I do love seeing your lovely faces before and after. You make it that extra bit fun for me

Have been a bit fractured lately, still a great bunch of people to socialise with,
you'll always get the odd few who have bit more time on a wed and want to do a bigger ride and catch up/ join in later. Like this week with the taitap being a end point.
Perhaps we should float a end point first?, early in the week, as wnr too alot of people is a social thing , and food/meals service and actual place is a biggie. Some of the end points are a turn off , but the ride would have been ok......

That would give several options on ride route , with the majority who turn on the nite have fine tuning input.

Seemed work years ago, still requires someone like Gloplug, dave etc etc to 'guide it'

the WNR is just not the same if we all split off into mini rides, even if we end up in the same location. but, I can understand that the big group ride with a few "stop and gather" points along the way gets a bit much sometimes, when all we wanna do is ride like the wind! (or in my case, ride like a gentle breeze)

our mini ride on wed was good but i enjoyed it better after we joined up with some others after getting to Godley House, even tho i swapped bikes with Karl and watched him disappear into the distance on my Ninja
interesting things happen above 10,000 rpm.....not if you have a ZRX tho

I am probably going for a ride tomorrow at some stage if anyone is interested. At this stage I am thinking around the bays or summit road type thing. But maybe partial to Akaroa or something.

Feel free to post up here if your keen, quote me though so I get a notification and so I don't forget that I posted this
