Sobering read an poignant for me due to my own accident back in May. I can understand what you're going through and admire your attitude and fortitude.

Thanks mate! I've got so much to live for. My family has been my rock, all of them from wife and kids to brothers, sisters and my Mum! I've been priviledged to have the best of care. ACC, or at least my own ACC manager, has been brilliant and I haven't wanted for anything I've needed.
I've nearly died five times and never taken life for granted but crashing as I did has been a life-changing experience. Will you ride again?

Great read, Jim. You have a talent with a pen, for sure.
So glad you are here to write about it.
Thanks for sharing![]()

"...you meet the weirdest people riding a Guzzi !!..."
You special guys, who take one for the team and live to tell the tail, are saving many of us from potentially doing the same. Thanks![]()
Educational read mate. I guess from my perspective it's good reading what it's like from the 'patients' point of view....

Curiosity was framed; ignorance killed the cat
Fix a computer and it'll break tomorrow.
Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.
You're probably sick of hearing it, but it would be a very empty world without you mate. Thanks for sticking around. And having the ability to write so eloquently about what most of us would want to try to forget.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I am humnbled to say that even though I make a living from words, they somewhat fail me right now. Apart from these meagre few.
May you continue to heal, Sir, and continue to express yourself so eloquently.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
You certainly made an impression with your words,
All the best for the recovery road trip.

One prefers to use its head, while the other relies on tales.
I am surprised you can remember things so vividly. I was even more shocked to read that it happened at 75kph. Thanks for the first hand write up. Was hard to read, but I am sure not as hard as reliving events when writing.
