    Wanganui Boxing Day 1983

Well I found this old race, with a lot of old names that most would still know today.
Roger Freeth, Rob Phillis, Stu Avant, Glen Williams, Dave Hiscock.

Racing the way it use to be when I was in my 20's.

By the way it is the full race, so enjoy and travel down memory lane as I did.

Bloody brilliant. Back when TVNZ used to broadcast live.

Hugely different machinery in the same class and didn't that Katana look sorted?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Great clip. I'll never buy a Hyandai though.

Spyda has them. I've been staring at one of them on a weekly basis at Wellington Motorcycles.

    Yep, so was I.

Glen Williams' wheelies were a joy to behold.

Watching that clip I was surprised at how small the spectator numbers were compared with today.

Loved it! I'm lucky that I'm old enough that I can remember watching similar on TV and really appreciate it now, and I'm also lucky that I'm young enough still to find it amusing every time I hear the commentator say 'Hiscock is coming up the inside'.

Fark I'm old I was there that day (have been to the last 40 of them)my dad use to live just up from the flowergarden and we put up a scaffold behind his fence and the tv on the porch so we could watch the rest of the lap bloody good when it was televised.

Glad you guys enjoyed it as much as I did.

Arr the good old day when they use to show road racing live on TV.

Would like to see old race at Phillip Island again, when Slight and crew all went off the track.
Did a bit of grass tracking and then got back on the black stuff and raced there hearts out again.
Coined the phrase, "you could cover the field with a blanket"
Feel the fear and do it anyway
