FXR - A little bit of bling

I took a little punt and order in a set of rearsets for my FXR two stroke project (c/- a contact in China, cheap-ish). As I couldn't actually be fecked making another set.

And low and behold they actually fitted, pegs are about 25mm back at the furthermost setting (from standard). Master cylinder fits fine (the photo doesn't do it justice).
CNC'ed not cast, full bearings, rose joints, replaceable pegs and lever ends; look strong enough, but time will tell.

Will still need to convert them to folding & nylon to suit the Wellington crowd.

But I thought I'd share a struck of good luck, as it has been an ass to find anything that would fit the FXR mounts.

Anyone that are interested give me a yell, could sort out some kind a bulk discount.

I'm keen as hell. How hard do u reckon it would be to make the footpegs into folding footpegs with this rearset? I have been doing a bit of 'bling' work on my bucket and this is a top priority. How much?

They look frecken solid the main section is 12mm all bolts are M8s.
RE folding,Not sure how hard it is going to be; haven't sat down and though it through yet, but maybe we could have the discussion about folding and/or solid nylon.
$~230 landed (as a one off and USA exchange rate & import duty) + a couple of extra bolts required (they can't count apparently). come in silver, gold and bogan...

that was the one off price, but i do see your point....price does relate to the size of the order though.

but compare to what's on trademe at the moment ~350-400. and/or the time spent buying all the bits and making them yourself the price isn't that bad.

But we will need to crash test them, before I'd waste anyone else money... Calling Kendog my crash tester...

I would suggest swapping to solid nylon. A few others have done that and it seems to work well.

I discussed that with some of you Welly fellows and got a blunt response re the kart track... Maybe we can discuss this some more in the weekend (I'll bring them down).

Its just as unlikely to cause flipping as the rest of the nylon crash protection on bikes.

Pretty sure there is no issue with solid nylon, but I could be wrong. I know two bikes set up like that. Perhaps causing the bike to flip would be the problem, not sure.
I look forward to seeing the bling in the flesh, I am sure that would help justify the price

    Folding vs nylon.

Well just be aware some kart tracks insist on bikes that use the track that they have folding. you might be excluded use if they are not & arguing at the time might not be a good course of action.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Last thing you would want is to be excluded after travelling. so one will build multiple options..
Looking at it today, it seems that a little lathe work and my old folding peg mounts will fit in to the peg holder. so off to my mates workshop and spend some quality time with the lathe.

I think I had used Honda peg mounts which have a square section & just had to make a square tight fit into a hanger. I've always just used a 12mm section of ally plate bought as scrap & taken it to a mate with a bandsaw to rough it into shape. From there you can drill holes & clean it up or if you have access to a mill take some nice edges on it & maybe some weight out of it.

Yes mate, get that 100kg FXR down to 99.95kg...
They look the nuts and for the $'s you would be hard pressed to get better but the crash test will prove their worth.

    100kg minus:
silly four stroke motor. (replaced with TZR)
stupidly heavy sub frame. (alloy subframe)
heavy steel swing arm. (modified DR200 alloy one)
and even more heavier wheels. (replaced)
maybe even tank. (custom tank of one of my older buckets)

it will be lighter than me... (which isn't that hard)

Sounds like you are creating an unfair advantage with a light FXR. But are you saying the rider balances that out
