Waimate Street Race

A new Motorcycle street race is going to be happening in Waimate on the 5th and 6th of March 2011. This is the first 2 day street event to be held in the South Island attracting alot of different bikes and riders.
Tickets can be brought on race days on the gates.
Same Weekend as the March hare Motorcycle Rallies 25th anniversary.
Should be a big weekend for Waimate and for motorcycling in general.
So fuel up and head down.

I just read in the Otago Daily Times (page 20, top right corner) ... this years event is cancelled due to lack of three months notice to MNZ. Sanction for the event WAS gained from MNZ ... but the chapter specifing the three months notice was in a different chapter than the bit about MNZ sanction being needed.

If anything had happened in the course of the racing ... the organiser (John Wilson of Redline Race Promotions) could have been held responsible due to lack of notice.

The races are being planed for 2012 ...
