My XR6 is as thirsty or thrifty as my foot, but my 2.2 accord was as fuel hungry round town as the coon, and my work 1990 L300auto gets 350km from tank of 40-45ltrs approx.Go from Napier to Gissy and uses tank and half due to hills etc.
    Don't tell anyone...but I have seriously looked at a few XR6's.

Aye! The crew cab's tray ain't really long enough for the bikes, but I do like the idea of being able to take people in it like a car! Funny about the fuel economy thing eh. I had a super charged Jag for years...loved it to bits. Drive it hard and it was the thirsty bitch from hell. But driven quietly, it was really good. I drove it from Hahei to Wellington on 1 tank of fuel last year.

Each to their own and all that...but I'll never own a van. I appreciate the security aspect, and the practicality of them, but they're a cunt to drive. Utes you can drive like cars!

Hmm a closet ford convert lol-ve haf vays of getting zee truth from you.

Crewcab is ideal if you need extra seating,as legroom is better than most, but deck area compromised for bikes.Mate has an SS for his work and crewcab 6 for home, and his view was crewcab,if they take passengers(they have no kids)and doesn't need a trailer, can chcuk bbq and kayaks on come holiday time.We travelled in the back from Arrowtown to Wanaka return and was comfy.

No. That's why I've only ever looked at them. Much like you might look at a fat ugly chick.

I picked up a 2002. 5.7m auto, cloth interior. 79,000km. In blue. Paid $16,000. Very tidy condition. Keep your eyes open, and the good ones do pop up.

Gotta larf at all the comments about fuel useage on here...you'd think a bunch of bikers would understand that the more gas you are using the more fun you are having.

Pete, if the cardigan/socks and sandals types give you ya a hard time about gas useage just telling 'em you are doing your bit for the environment by exhausting (excuse the pun) fossil fuel supplies and thus accelerating the development of alternative energy systems....right before you boil the bags.

Hahahahaha...noice one! Funny eh...all the sandle wearers would call me gay if I'd come on here asking for a ute that gets great mileage per litre!

Frankly, I couldn't give a flying fuck about fuel usage. Despite typical kiwi's moaning about the price of it, we've still got it pretty good here. And I hate not being able to overtake long trucks etc at will.

My manual AU3XR8 with open pipes and sitting above 3K revs takes me to a place that fuel consumption doesn't matter. Only beef I have is that it's too low for some of the farm land I trailer the bikes to. Thought about a 4X4 but can't do it. A stroked pursuit ute maybe... I'll admit I did look at the Commodore X8? but they do look a bit sales rep ish. One thing tho' the 220 or 250 hand built windsors were streets ahead of the competition in 2002. Go on try and deny it!
