Could be interesting, but I wouldn't get too excited.

    From: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/today.html

    3-day Solar-Geophysical Forecast issued Jan 29 22:00 UTC
Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels with a slight chance for C-class events for the next three days (30 January - 01 February).

Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at predominantly quiet levels for the next two days (30-31 January). Quiet to unsettled levels are expected late on day three (01 February) as a recurrent coronal hole high-speed stream moves into a geoeffective position.

Meh, not just yet CW, I hope... Funny, just finished watching a prog on Discovery Channel on 2012 theories ... anyhoo, i've been watching the solarcycle24 site for the last few years and seen some pretty spectacular displays... but the latest has to be one of the best...

28/01/2011 (The Day before Jantars link)

"Solar Update - Numerous Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have taken place off the Suns western limb. Click HERE to download a LASCO movie of the events. Unfortunatly none of these explosions appear to be earth directed. Sooner or later, we will get lucky and be in the path of an incoming CME that will produce Aurora at lower latitudes for our enjoyment. One of these explosions was caused by an M1.4 Solar Flare around departing Sunspot 1149.

A new sunspot has rotated into view on the southeastern limb and should be numbered 1150 on Friday"

I love it when they get disappointed that nothing is Earth directed ... The big ball is gettin angry, but I wish it would wait til I've had my fishing trip on Friday and my mother in law has left the country .

But if we all have superpowers then we would all be the same and then no one will effectively have superpowers even though we will all have superpowers relative to the superpower level we had prior to the sunblast thing.

The sun goes through these cycles every eleven years or so... they say scientists expect this next solar maximum to be the strongest of modern times, however they don't give any reason as to why. What makes this cycle any different from the one we have been coming out of for the last 10 years, or from the one in ‘89? or any other in the Earths 3.8 billion year history?

More scare mongering or money making scemes to say protect your self with our product??? all part of the 2012 scare mongering bull shit.

Umm, No. The next solar maximum is expected to the lowest in modern times. At least as low as the Dalton minimum, and maybe even as low as the Maunder. NASA are predicting a maximum SSN of 64 and others predictions are for a peak as low as 50.

I read that somewhere as well I can't remember the link...

The thing is... they simply don't really know... so no point in trying to predict it really...

Predictions... so called educated guess... but a guess none the less

Gotta wait for that overdue pole reversal to be really scared of the suns outbursts. Wonder how much awesome damage the sun will do while the magnetic field is shifting
