I blame TV show like 'Dr Phill'...For the incredible insight a lot of people have into the psyche of people you don't even bloody know.
Lots of people ride a decent clip on the road, and it's very possible the people the thread was started about just came at a corner a tad hotter than they thought. Happens to nearly every biker at some point, just this time a 'holier than thou' type was coming round the bend the other way and quickly deduced that these "morons" were racing with a fully qualified opinion from having been able to see them for a whole twelve seconds, (at a stretch).
Good ol' KB for instantly condemning anyone else on the road!
It was you, wasnt it?
I love how you jumpt to answers to defend them straight away. If you come at a corner too hot, in a group of 3, then maybe these people NEED the tracktime everyone else is suggesting. It's still no excuse, even if it's a mistake the truck coming the other way will still kill ya.
I wish, it's been ages since I got out for a recreational ride on the road!
I do jump to defensive suggestion in situations like this, because the kangaroo court that is Kiwibiker does the opposite EVERY time.
It's easy for following riders to come at a corner too hot if the lead bike does, and it's track time that has taught me to look past the guy in front and ride my own line. But that was RACE track time that got me to do that, no amount of track days can compare to competitive riding in that sense. There are 'no overtaking on the inside' rules at lots of track days for anyone but the race class, which means you're actually enforcing the habit of watching the guy in front instead of picking an appropriate line for the speed differential and taking it.
It's all academic anyway. No body knows who they were, or what they were thinking at the time. If they are reading this then they have have very little in their yam bags, because they wont give any explanation to events.
Who said speed does not kill? It 'kills' the innocent.
Good on ya Watermelon. If ya post has made one person on here think about their riding it has not been in vain.

Regurgitated, generic, politically correct rubbish.
This is an internet forum. I argue a point on here for entertainment, because that is the only thing it will achieve.
If it compels someone to do a track day, that's awesome because I reckon everyone who likes to ride fast will have fun there, but it's only awesome to me because if they do have fun, there are more people who are like minded to self. That makes me feel good, but essentially means fuck all.
Don't judge me based upon your ignorance.
Yep, but not everyone wants to be a racer. Some of us know we'll never be fast enough to mix it up on the track, or even if we were money/time/dedication stop us from competing, but why should that stop us/them from enjoying our bikes on the road. Also there is a satisfaction from riding somewhere, at pace, and stopping at the destination for a chin wag, then repeat on the way home. You don't get that at the track.
But that's the thing, not everyone wants to be a racer/track day junkie/hardcore/club member... not everyone wants to have to fit in. Make it well known that it can be a cruise in- drive home occasion with short term/no notice or bookings and it then won't become the type of 'racer' scene you refer to; easier said than done I know. Just what I think based on the riders that I've known.
...Full throttle till you see god, then brake.
Holy fucken shit!!! People speed if they want to, and the only thing you people can do to save them, is start door knocking to save their souls with ya bible like all the other pushers.
I hate people forcing their beliefs on others like they are better than everyone else.
I agree that people racing on the road in traffic are complete idiots, and the road is no place for it, especially in built up areas. Only death can sort those idiots out, not any of you.
But if I'm riding along the Napier/Taupo highway straights at 3 in the morning for instance, I'll be going alot faster than 100K's. Thats not because I think it's cool or I'm the best rider on the planet, thats because It's fucken boring and I'd rather get there quicker. I've always ridden/driven this way and have never overshot a corner, fallen off or crashed my car.
As I've said before, Trackdays only make 100K's feel slow when your heading home and more often than not you find your speed creeping up without even noticing because of it.
But honestly, sitting there preaching about speeders on every thread is just annoying!! Why not start a build thread or post some useful information that people don't know. Even better!! Why not start a website that focus's on the out of control meth problem we have in New Zealand and preach about how SPEED KILLS!!!!
There ya go.......My opinion......Bring on the name calling![]()
You still don't get it do you. 16 corners lap after lap after lap after lap does not compare with 300+ different corners to Nelson, or 100 different corners to Akaroa. The track is already accessible, we don't need to book, we all have excellent bikes, we all have the good gear, we can all afford to go out to the track, we know all this. But yet we still would more often than not actually ride somewhere, not around and around and around.
