I do jump to defensive suggestion in situations like this, because the kangaroo court that is Kiwibiker does the opposite EVERY time.

It's easy for following riders to come at a corner too hot if the lead bike does, and it's track time that has taught me to look past the guy in front and ride my own line. But that was RACE track time that got me to do that, no amount of track days can compare to competitive riding in that sense. There are 'no overtaking on the inside' rules at lots of track days for anyone but the race class, which means you're actually enforcing the habit of watching the guy in front instead of picking an appropriate line for the speed differential and taking it.

It's all academic anyway. No body knows who they were, or what they were thinking at the time. If they are reading this then they have have very little in their yam bags, because they wont give any explanation to events.

5 bikes ended up in a ploughed field many years ago following the guy in front & not the road. Laughed my skinny little ass off, thick, wet, winter mud from head to toe, front to rear, on all of them. Pre Youtube sadly.

Yes, they were riding "at pace".

Riding at 'pace' is not without risk, riding full stop isn't without risk if you want to get really picky. But riding at pace can be done safely. Even Katman admits to going over the speed limit...

I agree that people racing on the road in traffic are complete idiots, and the road is no place for it, especially in built up areas. Only death can sort those idiots out, not any of you.
But if I'm riding along the Napier/Taupo highway straights at 3 in the morning for instance, I'll be going alot faster than 100K's. Thats not because I think it's cool or I'm the best rider on the planet, thats because It's fucken boring and I'd rather get there quicker. I've always ridden/driven this way and have never overshot a corner, fallen off or crashed my car.
But honestly, sitting there preaching about speeders on every thread is just annoying!! Why not start a build thread or post some useful information that people don't know. Even better!! Why not start a website that focus's on the out of control meth problem we have in New Zealand and preach about how SPEED KILLS!!!!
There ya go.......My opinion......Bring on the name calling
You might think its ok to be doing well in excess of the speedlimit because its boring but road users are there not by right, you are required to show respect for other road users as well. It can be quite frustrating for family members when there love ones are killed by morons who think they own the roads.
The OP had an issue with what he says was poor riding, his right just as much as you can choose not to read the 4 pages, and start your own really informative post.
Last weekend I had exactly the same issue, bike following a line of cars coming around a left hander into a short straight, I'm heading in the opposite direction, only traffic so a mongrel on his large HD pulls across to my side and starts to pass cars meant I had to shift well left to let him by, prick didn't even wave.
Don't judge me based upon your ignorance.

This is an internet forum. I argue a point on here for entertainment, because that is the only thing it will achieve.

If it compels someone to do a track day, that's awesome because I reckon everyone who likes to ride fast will have fun there, but it's only awesome to me because if they do have fun, there are more people who are like minded to self. That makes me feel good, but essentially means fuck all.

Try as I might I can only come to the conclusion that you find it perfectly acceptable that innocent people get killed by others speeding and driving/riding dangeriously. And that is what Watermelon's post was about.

While you post for entertinment others may do so for other reasons. I’m in no position to comment on Watermelon’s reason. Perhaps he may want to enlighten you. His choice not mine.

I love how you jumpt to answers to defend them straight away. If you come at a corner too hot, in a group of 3, then maybe these people NEED the tracktime everyone else is suggesting. It's still no excuse, even if it's a mistake the truck coming the other way will still kill ya.
Or maybe they actually had plenty of room and line of sight.....but the op knows better....

Keh? Where have I made it my opinion that innocent people being killed by fuckwits is acceptable?

The circumstances are totally unknown in this instance. I am simply making my objection to the tone of the thread known. For nothing more than the satisfaction of calling hypocrites just that.

Their is always a time & place when the odds can be stacked hugely in favour of the rider to be safe if they have the knowledge to see it. Even on the clearest wide open corners with no traffic I treat the centre line as a brick wall.
I want to keep developing good habits not get lazy & develop bad ones, they catch up with you eventually.

You are to be banned bro, accepting that there are more than one possible view point of any situation is unacceptable!

Agreed 100%. Especially about the centre line.

wasn't the original post about passing into oncoming traffic on a blind corner? nope - left hand corner which means riding the long way around on the outside and vehicle obscuring lines....longer exposure to potential hazards.... ..Bad habits eventually kill you - ride fast - not stupid!

    Indeed.
Actually, your avatar says it all, really. Even on a 'closed road' it's not all beer and skittles when getting along a bit...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The circustances are known. They passed a vehicle on a lefthand bend. Read the original post.

Like I said speed does kill. It kills the innocent.

Ohhh, repeating yourself really gives your argument some weight!

The whole "if one person..." thing is regurgitated, and overly optimistic to the power of 1,000,000.

The first post presents one side/viewpoint of the situation. We do not know the other as the heathens are not here to explain it.

Blind corner? From where one car was sitting it prolly was.

    Speed? Totally un-known.

For Christ sake man, try and accept that there MIGHT be a flip side to what is being said. That's all I have pointed out!

I am not condoning anything, just saying that hypocrisy is alive and well here on KB. For is it not written? "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone".
