If you're going to customise a bike, better just do it to the ordinary one, IMHO.

Not that I'm in the market for a replica - if Fiat want their advertising all over my bike, they can pay me, not the other way about.

Indeed mister...it's what it's worth to the owner that really counts.

I didn't pay for it, but the exhaust system on my bike reputedly cost $6,000.

A full system for my S4R was $7,000. It was $3,200 just for the slip-ons.
(I didn't have to pay for them either...)

That $4,000 is starting to look like a bargain.

After thunk: Yamaha have sort of missed the bus with that R1, Rossi rides a Ducati, and Fiat went with him. Yamaha don't currently have a sponsor.

True enough, and IMO if you take a replica and do some custom mods to it, it's no longer a replica.

A bit like the difference between a 65 'vette with matching numbers and original radio, vs one with a crate engine and an mp3 player.

Both are cool, but only 1 is still the real deal.

Again, only my opinion, but I think you'd find the market value would agree with me.
