I spoke to the council today and they just laughed at the idea, they said that they don't have a leg to stand on as long as it is on our property then we can do what we like, they also said that noise control would struggle to do anything as they have to get a reading that exceeds the noise level for a certain amount of time and that motorbike struggle to do that as they are not always at full noise, so i think it would be sweet to continue doing what i am doing and not worry about those neighbours, if it upsets them to much then they could always move, that wouldn't worry me at all

Or, you could be mustering the stock... on your bike

Make up a flyer, of an invitational annual endurance race based on your property, but with numbers limited to 100.
    Drop in neighbours letterbox...

Sounds like you were courteous, polite and tried your best to be accomodating. Shame the neighbour in question was not able to do the same in return as ,now you're armed with your clarification of the rules from the council, you are well within your rights to answer any further complaints with the suggestion they lick the sweat off your hairy ballbag (preferably just after a hot summer's ride around your property).

I had problems with a neighbour a long time ago when my old band had a practice in my parents garage. Admittedly we were a thrash metal band, so not the most peaceful accompaniment to a lazy Saturday afternoon on the deck for said neighbour, but as he began negotiations by beating a nice sized dent in the garage door with a golf club, he ended up with his own version of the ballbag suggestion, once we'd also got similar council advice.

Sucks to be them...... if they'd approached looking for a compromise instead of an ultimatum, they probably would have got it, now they get squat, unless in the spirit of neighbor relations you tell them you're willing to limit your riding - to sunny days ending in Y.

If you really want to piss them off then go out shotgunning at 1am for rabbits, as long as your property is big enough to safely use a firearm.

Is the bike loud. not by bike standards but by local machinery standards? if not they dont really have a leg to stand on.
Maybe you could try talking to them but the modern way to resolve problems is to curtain twitch and get someone else to do it for them so tread lightly.
No measuring. It's a subjective test. Although it does have to be happening at the time and any direction must be made with regard to the time of day and the volume.

The fact is though that if noise control come around and issue an abatement notice it's only in effect for 72 hours. After that it's reset to a free-for-all again.

Some neighbours you just elect not to 'get on' with. One of mine sported a black eye for a week when he decided to give my wife some lip. He doesn't do that anymore and I was never interested in 'getting on' with white trash anyway.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

That sounds just like Western Springs Speedway. Cockheads buying properties and then bitching about what happens there. They knew full well before purchasing.
Airports are the same (believe it or not!).
