I propose that we scrap all classes that people think aren't the best.........................................there ya go.......you're all fucked, everyone will vote each other out and then you'd all have nothing to moan about
So who has contacted MNZ and requested that next year the Nationals be called NZ Motorcycle racing Nationals instead of NZ SBK Road Race Championship ?
F1 / SBK / Formula Paeroa etc
F2 / S/sport / 600's
F3 / Superlite
Ya really think ppl care what the diff names are when they go to watch a meeting?
Great way to teach racers to aim high this thread, shit I'm normally called Mr Negative but damn, some of you jokers beat me hands down.
WHY CAN"T EVERYONE JUST GET ALONG?
Someone should be thinking about the children!![]()
Not sure what side of the question you were on here 'So who has contacted MNZ and requested that next year the Nationals be called NZ Motorcycle racing Nationals instead of NZ SBK Road Race Championship ?' but just in case;
Hmmm....
World Superbike Championship
Australian Superbike Championship
All Japan Superbike Championship
British Superbike Championship
Canadian Superbike Championship
AMA Superbike Championship
New Zealand Superbike Championship
Motorcycle Racing Nationals???? What motorcycles? MX, ATV, Speedway??????? No brand possible in that.
The following is why we should NOT have anything to do with 'Road Race' in the name of Superbike Champs:
New Zealand Road Race....:

etc etc etc
What bloody century did NZ Road Racing Nationals [National Championship that should be] or Motorcycle Racing Nationals for that matter, come from???
Pretend I am Joe Public:
"NZ Road Racing Nationals? What sport was that honey? More bloody cycling?"
"NZ Motorcycle Racing Nationals? Cool motorbikes, but what? Not really interested in that dirt stuff. Oh, there is rugby on too, OK lets see that then."
"NZ Superbike Champs? Great, some motorbikes, sort of like those Biaggi and Haga guys isn't it!!!"
The 3 B's of successl: Branding, Branding and, Branding.
You whingers will not hear anyone not racing a superbike at BSB complaining that it is called British Superbike Championship and not British ACU National Road Racing Champs, or something equally as lame arse. And I wonder which championship runs factory level WSBK bikes in it and has live TV coverage? NZ Road Racing Nationals or BSB?
(And don't just go on about the money and market size and all that, cos there is heaps more to it than that).
Pull your heads out of your arses and think about the bigger picture and not just your own little worlds.

Same side Mr b, and well put I might add.
My post was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, just getting fed up with all the knockers (and not the squishy kind) on here.
I'm sure all are passionate about their own chosen classes but surely the end goal nowadays is to get people interested in the premier classes, yes I said it, the 600's and 1000's, and I'll also include 125's as the top classes. I mean why else do people try and get youngn's overseas to say the Redbull rookies etc? If they succeed then what, umm MotoGP, WSBK? Nah lets keep 'em in F3 instead!
Yes yes I know this is only little 'ole NZ and the money ain't there, but without the encouragement to aim higher why would someone have the passion to go for gold? Where would the likes of Slight etc be if they thought what most here did?
Ok rant over.......................back out to my bikeless shed![]()
Thought I should clarify for what its worth, what I was saying was only in jest, I didn't really mean anything seriously. As a new racer I think I am way out of my depth to add anything constructive to this thread. This is obviously a touchy subject for many, I had no idea.
Peace out Raj.

FFS Tony,Get over youself will ya,NOWHERE in this thread up until post 96,(Yes thats right your post) did anybody suggest the National championship needed a new name or that Superbikes and 600s aren't the premier classes,All thats been stated is that not EVERYBODY goes to race meetings SIMPLY TO WATCH SUPERBIKES and 600s,
Where did Aaron Slight get his inspiration from?Same place Simon Crafar,Chris Haldane,Andrew Stroud,Tony Rees,Brian Bernard,Eddie Kattenberg,Johnny Hepburn.Buce Anstey.250 Production,Yes thats right an entry level feeder class NOTSuperbikes,In fact when those guys started racing,Superbikes didnt even exist either in NZ or the WSBK series.
Until the North Island clubs get their shit together and start running an extensive junior program and including them at the big meetings,As has been proven to be a success at Motorcycling Canterbury through firstly Peter Jones and his helpers and now Jenni Gibson,Along with Grant Ramage at South Canterbury and Steve Winteringham in Southland.
Sure we're not ever gonna see the heady days of 250 proddy again,But the stepping stones are there and just need to be utilised (Streetstock 150=Prolite 250=Protwins=600=Superbikes).Up until now NOBODY or club in the North Island have shown anywhere near 10% of the commitment required to make a difference,Its either buckets or glorified club series that don't even run Nationally recognised classes.
All of the up and coming young riders in the 2 600 classes at National level(bar Midge Smart) have had some involvement with the MCC junior program
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem
