"If you ride a motorbike or scooter then you may be interested in some motorbike training this weekend. When it comes to avoiding a crash on your bike, it can come down to your own skill level and how you respond to a hazardous situation, so it is important that you have the right skills. This training is open to anyone with a minimum of a learners motorbike licence and it doesn't matter what skill level you are or the size of bike you are riding."

    Cost: $30.00 (Lunch is provided)
    Registration: 0800 855 7521
What's happens on the day: A qualified motorbike trainer will take you through both classroom and practical sessions. You will be shown the various skills that all motorbike riders need to help keep themselves safe on the road.
    For example you will learn:
    • How to counter- steer,
    • How to ride through corners
    • How to look for hazards,
    • General bike maintenance
    • Where is the best place to position yourself on the road
    • How to use your brakes correctly in a stop
    • What is the best riding gear for you
    • How to ride safety in a group.

    You need a minimum 6L.
You need your own bike and riding gear.

I CANNOT speak highly enough of yesterdays event. I learned important techniques I would never have even heard about had I just continued to ride with my mates and lunch & drinks alone would have been more expensive than the $30 I paid to attend.

Well done to the instructors for their excellant tuition, ACC for putting up the dollars, Wayne Holden and team for their organization.

I look forward to using the techniques I have learned, it spoke volumes to me that all the instuctors wore Hi-viz at all times, I personally have never been interested in wearing it but I wore it to work and its not as wanky as I thought.. and may help me be seen.

Thanks to all for a great day

These days are well useful, and it's good to see more and more of them happening.
As for hi-viz, the instructors wear it so the attendees know who to follow, etc.
As for wearing it yourself and being seen - don't bet on it.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

This is exactly what the old man and the brother-in-law said. It took me ages to convince them to do these courses (I've done 2 now) and they're looking at doing them every 6 months. The old man still thought it was brilliant even after his mishaps (x2) Which, in itself, is testament enough I reckon. He learnt from his stuff ups and moved on... $30 for course, arm and leg for new lever

If you're wearing one and you get nailed through no fault of your own, ACC will grant to a "free pass" and record the accident as "aggrogant blind asshole's fault" and will ban the driver since he can't see.

Honestly, it's written in the book
