So are there any takers .... lets show her we are behind her .
Just going my own way
Hey all. Spent the afternoon with Katie.
When I arrived lunchtime, she was looking so good compared to when i last saw her on Monday. She had great colour in her checks, was very bright eyed and chatty. Mid afternoon they came to put on her back brace. This is a rigid plastic thing that completely covers her upper torso and attaches to the neck halo. They have said that once she had this on, she would be be able to start thinking about sitting up and moving around etc. Unfortunately the efforts of them putting on the brace really knocked her around and wore her out. She is very vulnerable and will be for a long time.
So - its good to visit, but please dont wear her out, keep the visits short and sweet. Her recovery process will be a long one so theres plenty of time to see her.
Now - I did broach the subject of flower money instead being KP insurance excess money, or whatever, and she didnt really want to do that. But - i suggested she think about it for a day or two first before making a final decision.
Or we can just do it regardless - present her with a fait accompli . Personally - I think we should just do it.
I printed off all the messages pm'd to me and read them to her. She was mighty touched with the care and concern from the KB family. So thank you to all of you from KatiePie
Cheers - Carla
Oh yes - and Dave Greenberg who was the winch man on Sunday popped in as well. He and the rest of the rescue crew are great people. He was delighted to see KatiePie looking so good. She was delighted to meet one of her heroes of the night.
I hope everyone gets to learn everything they can from this.
I learnt how to make the meanest blueberry muffins with creamcheese in the centre.
Seriously, they're fucking delicous.
First I read this!
Then I read this!
Then I read this! http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4798...tells-rescuers
Now I am in shock!
Don't know you in real life Katie but you are so full of life in your KB posts and you have been so excited about your progress as a motorcyclist and in buying your new bike, "I" was even enjoying reading about it and going along with you!
Hang in there kid, it might seem all bad at the moment but I believe you have what it takes to get right through this and get back up where you want to be!
All the best from us oldriders and keep on posting your progress as you fight your way back!
Cheers and all ourPip and John oldrider. (KB)

The Bergs are tied up with a 40th (not telling who's) this weekend but would be happy to help in any way. Mr Berg knows something of the suffering our poor Katiepie will go through and the shear frustration
involved in healing from such an injury.
We would be over the moon if somebody was to organise a ride not only for Katie but also for the awesome folks at the rescue helicopter unit in Wgtn.
Due to my job I work in closely with them and they are an awesome bunch who excel at helping those in need.
I have faith that Katiepie's amazingly positive attitude will see her well on the road to recovery but ensure she knows she has full support from those of us who have been there as well.
Mr and Mrs Berg
If you are what you eat, then I'm fast, cheap and easy
I have a gas axe and a welder! What do you mean "it won't fit"?
Recognised the bike from this thread in the news today.
All the best for a full and speedy recovery!
Same here for half the roads I go and get lost on, plus the fact a lot do not have Cell reception. Maybe time for a PLB?
Life is a gift that we have all been given. Live life to the full and ensure that you have absolutely no
regrets.
