Toto is not having a go at you, he's pointing you in the right direction, this is the learners forum and ride, I do know how you ride and this groups not for you. Average speed on the longer rides here is about 80Kph or less, most come for the carpark slow speed handling drills and an awful lot are on "L" plates.

Its a safe place to learn and improve past your BHS. You would be better suited to the ATNR or better still why don't you get yourself out onto the up coming ART Day, I'd suggest group 3.

    I'll see you there.

I've got some ideas for some cool exercises for those who aren't so keen on the handling skills type courses. E.g. stop/go drills, throttle control and reducing radius turns. Toto maybe we could set up the G's square as well, it is also a good one for the less confident (but can also be tricky if you want it to be!)

Will try to get some more cones for tonight too.

Anyone who wants to get in on the carpark drills before dark feel free to turn up at the Albany carpark from 6.30pm onwards.

    Albany.

So just to make it crystal clear for people browsing the thread:

Westgate (Shell) group meets at 6.30pm for a 7pm departure for Albany (~30-45min minute ride followed by carpark drills.

Tonight there will also be a separate group meeting directly at Albany carpark at 6.30pm to focus on lower speed bike handling skills (sounds easy enough - it isn't).

Both groups merge at Albany carpark around 7.30pm. And both groups go to the pub later on.

    The choice is yours

I'm actually going to be there tonight

Will go on the ride first though I think...still deciding though.

Maybe an idea would be to have the ride leave at 6.30 instead of 7 so we can get as much daylight as possible for the ride...just a thought now winter is on the way.

    anywho...Catch you tonight

Depending on the group size, I was thinking we might take a small group and do hill starts for 15 mins or so.

We did some emergency braking last week. I was thinking we could advance this, and do brake and escape this week. So if you could set up one section of the course for this that would be great.

And the rest of the group could do a general handling course. Need to make sure we don't spread ourselves too thinly though.

Sure, we can do that. I was going to do a stop-go type exercise anyway which involves stopping at a mark without putting feet down, then taking off with a sharpish turn.

I have to admit I'm a bit wary of combining e-braking and turning in this situation. It's quite difficult to do safely.

Bad day person, if its any consolation it made for an entertaining read, initially thought I had stumbled upon a Gordon Ramsay script.
Glad to know that it has been resolved & there is not going to be any pistols at dawn.

A great turnout tonight. And only 4 bikes got tired and decided to have little lie-downs! oops

Still, a solid effort from everone, there were a few looking real pro there near the end.
