Awesome - have had the umm pleasure? of going to Westgate a few times but hadn't stopped at the Services before so thought it best to check!

See you there - leaving the CBD just after 5.30 so guess I will be one of the first.

Yup was my first time last night - it's a really good group. Thanks to everyone that said hullo and especially to the guys who organise everything.

Always good to wander out on group rides, you get to look at what lines other people take through corners and think about what you can take from watching how they corner. Slow speed maneuvering was something I have never really done on the bike before... and I am now far more active with my back brake. Though even a pom will admit I was a bit chilly when I got in at 9.40 - didn't help that I left the pub and went the wrong way

Let the guys know what you need work on and they will work it in, with well given advice that will improve your skills

So, earlier in the thread I brought up how much I enjoyed the "follow the leader" activity we did one evening. I was browsing youtube and stumbled on this video here:

    http://youtu.be/3lXjemfjiYI

Thought I'd share it with you guys because I enjoyed it so much, And maybe it will spark inspiration to work on the finer techniques of controlled riding.

Amazing video - cheers for sharing it!

Personally - I think the guy in the yellow jacket with the white helmet was best. But thats just me....

Ok, seriously. That head-to-head at speed thing at the 6 minute mark is plain scary looking.

    Ouch

This is what happens when you dont wear the right trousers. Friend hit a slick patch yesterday and came off at 50km p/h. Have to say I thought there would be broken bones after I saw her slide and tumble quite a few times to land up in the ditch. 3 hours in theatre today to clear out knee, 5 cm long hole down the knee and tendons ripped off her thumb which is now in a cast. I should get a photo of her helmet, the visor sheared off and the paint scraped off to its shell. Maybe it should be compulsory to watch somebody get their gravel rash cleaned, saline solution wash, brush to scrub knee and then twizzers to get the real stubborn bits. It is amazing to see how much gravel comes out. To quote my friend it is the only time she will be mistaken for a pakeha (she is Maori but was very white when the wound was being cleaned.

Hindsight is always very powerful. Alas us humans don't really appreciate how fragile we are till we have learned the hard way and experienced some serious pain.

Hope your friend heals up and makes a full recovery. Perhaps you might bring her along ...

Keen to have a ride tonight - always open-minded to improve my riding / safety skills. See you all at 6.30!

Now. Im running in my new wee 150. Is there much open-road riding - what im getting at I guess, is the 150 doesnt like sitting on 100km/h too long yet. Do I need to bring the Thou, or will the 150 manage?

It's all mostly 80km/h areas, and only a short ride to albany via the riverhead coatsville highway. Be good to see a new face
Rest in peace Tony - you will be missed.
