    Smoking in cars (with kids)?

I see the Aussies have a law in-place where drivers of vehicles cannot smoke ciggies inside the car if there is a child present under the age of 6. With all these new 'road initiatives' happening surely NZ will follow? If its good for Victoria(AUST) surely its good for kiwis?!
Its started pissing me off when I follow a smelly car with the driver chuffing away with grommets inside. Being a ex-smoker I can tell if a driver 6 cars up in the queue is blazing away, but I couldnt care less if people choose to have a fag, just not in the car with their kids.
Should we have a law like the aussies?
    What next?, forward facing numberplates!?!

It should be law here also.
    There are adverts about it..
Even when we did smoke we did not smoke in the car.
If we had to, we would stop, get out, have a smoke, get back in and drive off.
We didnt smoke in the house either.

there are to many bad laws. laws are good to keep the not so bright ones in order, but yes it is annoying that the laws to keep idiots under controll affect the rest of us so much.

They are bringing in a new law which will allow our politicians to track how many laws we currently have...apparantly they werent allowed to keep track of all the laws without a new law authorising it.

Remember when we used to smoke in aircraft? "every" seat had an ashtray.

they did an ad campaign a while back about it, but it isnt illegal I dont think.
Id be for it though. Sadly, some people lack the fucking brains to realise how stupid it is to sit a small child in a confined space like a car when they have no escape from years of passive smoking. some people will bitch about nanny state on this, but I say its more a reflection of how fucking retarded some people are that we need to put a law in place to make them realise its a dumb thing to do

I'd like there to be a law against it (and i think the law in AU is older than 6 too, IIRC, it might be 16).

I will put my hand up here and say that i smoked for 30+yrs,and was one of the dumb cunts smoking in the car with my kids. Luckily i had sense enough early on to stop this stupid shit when they were still quite young. I see it now and reminds me what a dumb fuck i was.

Oh c'mon a law to smoking in a place where a kid might be for maybe an hour a day, perhaps subjected to on one or two cigarettes but no talk of law to ban it in a house in which the kid spends hours upon hours and in which whole packets are smoked.

FFS what a waste of time.
