    Internet too fast... thieving bastards

I would like to know if anyone can tell me why we are seeing these largely unnecessary speed increases but no improvement on the oppressive data allowances we face.

Fucks sake, with the speed before it was far too easy to break 60gb with 3 sedate net users, speed was never an issue. Now it is even more ridiculous and I feel it's a scam that people are paying out of their eyes and ears for accidentally doubling and even tripling these abominable restrictions. The issue is that now with websites becoming ever more rich in videos and complexity, one only has to click a link and moments later suddenly find a 25 minute, high res video has completed loading, along with several large video advertisements of course. Before there was at least a little balance but it's out of control now to the point people have to count the megabytes on their fingers lol.

They rave about the speed increases but what good is that when we can't even have any use of it. You see NZ youtube users about the comments pages and how they can't continue to watch on; can't help but think is this really a first world country?

It's extortion with impunity. Raise the limits, not the speed!
...Full throttle till you see god, then brake.

I was thinking "exactly" the same earlier this evening. You go to a page and a video starts downloading. The fact that it's cached at their end is a PITA too. I've downloaded it, why shouldn't it be stored locally in my cache in case I navigate away and/or want to see it again or show someone.

Up the limits imho... When I left the UK, 5 years ago, I was on an unlimited plan with 8MB down and 512KB up (about to go to 24MB down free upgrade ) for about the same $$$ as I'm paying here capped to 10GB. Your mobile phone charges are astronomical in comparison too. But i guess that's the price of living on an island the size of the UK, but with 1/16th of the population.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

I got the 'all you can eat' for $80 a month from Slingshot. Speed is ok, torrent 1gb movies in about an hour or so usually.

Sometimes the less expensive plans end up costing more?

We dont even have this so called speed increase

And yet, with no music or movie torrenting, I seem to use 40gb all by myself.

    (Last month was 56gb )

    Correction.

    It was 60gb

Telecom had their golarge/bigtime etc for so long before uncapping the uploads and then crying hur dur we don't haz teh capacity 6 months later, giving me all you can eat for 3 years and switching it for 20GB. Suck my dick, telefuck. I popped that 20GB cherry the first evening without even knowing they'd switched me.
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

your internet is too fast? fuck I WISH I had your problems!!

I see what you mean with the massive increase in how much data you download everytime you open a page with videos etc, especially some sites that have a short video clip at the home page that you cannot skip, it fucks me off.

As far as computers go, I am technilogically challenged, but I understand the reason behind our data caps to be due to the limited amount of cables we have running from here to other places offshore. shit that sounds vague doesnt it?

Im sure someone will be along shortly to correct my incoherrent ramblings!
