Fuck. Good press for Tok, and good press for cops?

Guess those boffins at the Hadron collider really did bump us into another dimension.

I had a few interesting moments way back when....
Twice puled over so we could chat bikes, "how the fuck did you get it to sound that good?" "Bloody hell mate, that sounds nice, cue long bike related chat"

"72 in a 50, that gets off the lights well....." followed by another long chat.
None of the above resulted in fines.
I've only ever met one officer who wasn't polite and nice, but, in his defence it was 10pm and he looked very stressed.
Have also met a cop who really, really didn't like me, but, she was still professional and courteous.

It's either my boyish good looks, or being polite helps.

Few years back now.. Must of been 17, Close to turning 18.

On my Restricted car License heading home from work at 1am.

Decided to take a different route home this particular night (Only wanted to speed down a sweet road). Next thing i know, I am door trim deep in water.

"Hrmm, This is odd", Says I. So i turn around and park up the side street with my hazards on where the Main Water Pipe had burst and taken out the road. Next thing I know, the bloody road collapses under me!!!

The pressure had washed out the road further up from the opening, Much to my not knowing. Next thing, In goes the Rear wheel. So my whole left hand side is starting to get swallowed up by this 6ft hole spilling out with heaps of water.

On the phone i get. Police and Fire please! Not that fire can really do much cos their pumps couldn't keep up!! 15 Mins later ( Pies must've been too hot to travel with eh? ) The boys in blue turn up. 3 cars. 5 Officers.. All at once. (Some Party!) By now, It would of been about 1.30am/2am

Intersection gets completely blocked off. Tell the boys what happened, Asked for license. Oh crap. Here it comes i am thinking to myself. What am i in for.. How much would the fines be for driving WAY past 10pm cut off... Ah shit....

License handed back to me. Not one word was said. No Fines. Nothing!

Car was towed out of the hole and taken down to the Salvage yard for the night. And I get sent home on me merry way! (Thanks for the Lift Mum! )
The only stupid question is a question not asked!

I know the guy was a biker, but I never knew there would be a specialized branch that dealt with other grades of traffic. Makes sense, though.
They are called the GOD squad. CVIU, commercial vehicles investigation unit.
Basic job is to hound the hell out of the transport industry.
They still not all bad though.

Unless you`re doing something really stupid or dangerous, in my book a warning is much more effective.
I kinda brings you back to reality if you`ve been pushing the limits a bit, without all the unnecessary fine/demerit bullshit.
    A win win situation.
The cop does his job to make you aware of the rules of the road, and you learn from if without all the negative anti-cop stuff, and having to pay the huge money for your "crime".
The so called government will just have to find some other sector of society to rob for it`s income.
    Let the good times roll

CVIU = Referees for the transport industry Keeping a level playing field for everybody. A huge number of them also ride bikes.

    Maybe in your case yes.

But you are sharing the roads with less intelligent morons and muppets who see a warning as a " got off again" and take NO notice...

    Another good cop story

After the quake my bike was stuck in the red zone about 100m from the Grand Chancellor and surrounded by buildings being demolished. I had kind of said goodbye, and even though it's insured, I love that bike and to me a bike is not a "thing" in the way a fridge or car is.

One morning I got a phone call, the voice on the other end introduced himself as Constable X and then asked if I owned a black triumph motorcycle. I expected the worst and owned up to having superlative taste in motorbicycles.

"Your bike was parked in front of a building that was only held up by the two buildings on either side, but I have moved it to a safe place and I will try and get it out for you".

Long story short, Constable X is not a biker and had never ridden anything other than a scooter or a quad bike, but he saw that my bike was obviously a pride and joy. I got my key to him through my partner who was working for Civil Defence and he rode my bike out of the red zone and left it in the hands of a couple of young soldiers for me to collect. He could have got his arse kicked from here to Invercargill for riding a member of the public's bike with no helmet or license and for no valid reason, but he did it. When I asked if he'd like to come for dinner (he's from the North Island) or whether I could buy him some piss, "no mate, just happy to be able to help".

    WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND!!!!!
Don't blame me, I voted Green.

    My favourite good cop story

About 15 years ago a mate and I were heading back to my place in Papamoa from the Mount after a night at the pub and decided to take a shortcut on the beach. Long story short my 4WD L200 ute got swamped by a freak wave and drowned. Cops came and pulled me out and no ticket issued (I was sober though), so all good, but one of them was a very tasty young brunette, and I made a note of her name and a few days later rang her up and asked if I could buy her a drink as a thank you.

We went out for about 3 months but it became difficult because in those days I had a few mates who operated outside the law and she came round one day unexpectedly in her uniform while a couple of the lads were round and inevitably the pipe was out. Freaked them out no end, and the expressions on their faces was priceless, but fortunately she was of the opinion that private use of the good herb was something a smart cop turned a blind eye to.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.
