    T Boned!

So this evening I was riding home from work when a car obviously missed my bright headlight? and cut straight across me, I was on the gas & so kept on it, the car must have been doing 60-70 odd, grazed my foot so gently and smacked into the rear of the bike; incredibly, the bike just did a massive slide of the rear, and kept upright! I recall lifting all my weight over the front but fuck me if that was anything but a lucky body movement...

The muffler is pancaked against the swingarm, and ripped off the pipe slightly at the join, the hanger bracket is bent to shit.

But dear whoever is looking out for me, thank you.

Good skills there! I am constantly amazed at the lack of ability to see me when I am commuting in traffic. I have taken to wearing the most hideous fluro vest, it is Oxford brand and so bright it makes me feel a bit sick looking at it

Well done. That could have been nasty indeed. You estimate you were doing 60-70 so will presume you were in at least a 70k area where there is less obstructed sight lines and this was at a signposted intersection rather than lights.

It was at 10pm, and a completely straight road, near the bottom of parnell, the car was full of a bunch of 18 year old guys, they were oh-so apologetic, they seem a fair bit more freaked out than me, but thats not to say that I was able to fall asleep for a good few hours after that last night

    ...glad to read your ok.
Well done for keeping it upright , hope the damage can be repaired and the car driver is the one paying for those repairs.

Can you expand on the "I was on the gas" bit please?

hey hey unfair. Ouch that hurts. I did not say it was the OP's fault and I did compliment him on his skills. Both of which make me a poor reflection of the great and mighty Katman. So I mis-read the OP, like I'm the first on KB to do that.

Oh, sorry Katman. What I meant by that was I had come around a corner, and was just heading straight down the road (accelerating/ on the gas) - the 250 takes its time to reach the speed limit, and thats when i saw the car, I mentioned that to point out that I hadn't hit the brakes, which, if i had, would most likely have had a negative result

As per the rest - Good to hear you're ok, hope the car accepted that they are going to be paying and you are back on the bike soon.

Takes a bit of getting used to that you are invisible, had a guy pull out on me yesterday in town that just plain wasn't looking. Thankfully I had twug him as a possible pratt so I was already ready for him.

I kind of assume that cars in town are going to take every opportunity to become an instant obstacle course - for some reason they were playing at it a lot on SH1 on my way in this morning as well.
