Great! Get used to paying the new "Road Tax", folks

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/poli...g-all-the-time

Zero tolerance for missing revenue and Zero tolerance for looking at the actual facts of road fatalities and accidents.

But hopefully the Police step up and smack this Politician back into line, at least the NZ police use facts and stats to make descisions...besides, they have "actual" criminals to catch....instead of pissing around collecting revenue and "trying to" make this ugly self centred bitch look good! (god that photo is scary!)

If this goes through....Im may have to go back to riding matt-black 1000cc superbikes with a flip up number plate!.....some of us hate taxes that much!

That is one scary photo. You can see she doesn't listen to reason from the look on her face. If she pushes this through the are going to wear the fall out, respect will drop through the floor.

The problem with your argument is that it is based on the only set of stats we have, traffic crash reports attended by police. Thing is, people (the gubbermint too) take them as gospel, when they are approximate at best. They are okay for measuring trends, but take it from someone who has been filling them out for years, they are a poor stat gathering tool at best.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

"During the 1970s, more than 750 people died on the roads every year. "Whatever is happening, we are doing very well and unless something extraordinary happens we are in for a stellar year in this context".

Dopey bint obviously isn't going to compare apples with apples though. What was the population of NZ in the '70's?
    Roughly 2.9million in 1970's.

We now have a population of 4.3 million and the road toll has decreased.

But any excuse to claim their tolerance worked and the shitty weather that weekend had absolutely no influence.

"and we are not going to give up on this one"

I wonder what the opinions will be from all the experts when the figures return to the average.

    Zero tolerance

    new it was coming.............

A zero tolerance speeding policy credited for having a big impact on road deaths should be enforced outside public holidays, Police Minister Judith Collins says.

    feel free to rant

That is a no brainer - lower the limit. It is a no brainer because it will not involve any brain work from "the experts"

I'm getting older so slowing down comes naturally.

One thing I noticed though which is quite disturbing.

I recently have cut out weed smoking. The result?
I am now travelling faster and less safe without its effects!!!!!!! No shit

As cannabis becomes more prevalent and alcohol less so, would the road toll reduce?

Lets see them struggle with that little gem

I'm sorry, in which dimension is this going to happen?

...and no, impaired people, be it drugs or alcohol have a bad habit of killing OTHER people. Their drug of choice won't make much difference

    Who's talking about meth, ADHD or any other prescribed medicines. I w.i.l.l s.p.e.a.k s.l.o.w.l.y s.o t.h.e s.t.o.n.e.r c.a.n c.a.t.c.h u.p......

I said people who were impaired by drugs and alcohol, emphasis on the word impaired. I'm not going to decide what some drugs do or don't do to some people and therefore whether we should consider them impaired.
