    CBX250rs dumb questions

We I cant find a manual so gotta resort to asking the dumb questions here..

What oil for the motor and how much?

    What tyre pressure?

Why when i order a clutch lever its wrong?

Can I get a pack rack for it? If so where?

    Ta.

do a search on here, there is a thread on the manual. There used to be a guy in ponsonby who had a manual, I made a copy from his when I had one, that went with my bike out to manukau.
Tyre pressure - same as normal, usually 32/34, up to you
You need a new bracket and lever I would suggest going into a honda dealership or ask a wrecker - I couldn't figure out what model bike the bracket on there is from, its definately not from a cbx (the cbx one looked like your brake bracket)

    The fun begins huh.

Lots of manuals out there on the interweb, can take a bit of finding though.

If I recall correctly the engine in the 250RS is the same as the XL250, so a manual for one of them might be helpful. I'll check if the one I've got at home covers the twin carb version, if it does I could probably send you a copy.

Otherwise they're pretty basic, and pretty easy to work on.

The bracket is stock, ive seen the same that I could buy from a shop in england showing the same part. The young guy at the bike shop admitted he ordered the wrong one.

    Cheers for the tyre preasure.

Sweet, good info. would love a copy if you can find it. Cheers

The CBX was never sold into the US so it doesnt seem like anybody did manuals apart from the factory one.

    - Whatever the cheapest 20/50w is, amount cast into the crankcase. Get a 4 litre
    - Over 30
    - The perch has been changed
    - It's a CB, just weld some tube onto the rear subframe

Yeah hit that bitch with a MIG. Don't have to butcher it; just try to plan how you'd angle grind it off again later should that ever need to happen.

I had one... never rode it, gave it to a mate and he raped the crap out of it, so I know the sides of the tyres can be worn out before the centre

As for the oil from memory 2.3-2.7 litres....

As for the rack buy a cheap one of trademe and make some brackets too suit...burn the man that said its just an cb

just get a after market perch with lever

Tyre pressure I use too run 32 front 36 rear have alook on your tyres it will have the recommended Psi printed on the sidewall

Had a look, my manual only goes up to '84, so doesn't cover the twin carb engine chch library has a copy of the honda workshop manual for the CBX250RS, but a bit hard to get to at the moment

My single carb 250 has a dipstick attached to the filler and the oil quantity is not cast into the engine, also has no oil filter just a screen so it pays to run some decent oil in the thing.

As for a pack rack, there should be enough mounting points on the back to hang one off (top of shocks, grab rails etc), all I did for my old yamaha was buy one off trademe and attack the mounts with the grinder and mig and make it fit. I now have a GSX1100 pack rack on an XJ550, not as pretty as it could be but works.

Levers are cheap, aftermarket around $20 complete, not so good on the trail bike as they break when you drop it but should be OK on a road bike.

Thanks, I have a few checks to do and if they dont work out I will go there.

Ive got power to the tach, will run a lead from the coil to see if the wiring is the fault. Want to check the earth on the loom but cant find it yet. Tank will come off over the weekend.

But so far Im real happy with the bike.

Speedo works when I put drill on the end of the speedo cable. Maybe it was not fitted properly or the driver is not working. But drive turns when I spin the front wheel. Will have to ride to find out.

    Off to buy parts today.
