Aucklanders going to Roy's Hill - 2-3 July?

Okay, are we going to be shown up (again) by the Wellingtonians?
Our race meet up here isn't until the end of July, so Henk and I are heading to Hastings for this meet.
Not offering anything, just asking a question.
We will have room (probably) to take bits & bobs down, but no room for extra bikes.

Come on Auckland, make this a real North Island meet.
Yes 4 strokes are for homos. Homo-sapiens that is, who have realized bigger is better.

We've had two rounds of the North Island series, where Aucklanders outnumbered everyone else.

I know there are plans for quite a few to head down to Roy's Hill for the real North Island series round in December, so don't worry, some Auckland bucketeers do travel.

There was/is someone else considering going down, but stuffed if we can remember who it is.

It is a good fun track, and most of the folk are okay (I haven't noticed the scars from the amputation of the 2nd head on all of them), they play mean banjos and the tumbleweed's pretty fun to play with. Nah, they're a great mob, there's lots of wineries around (the track is surrounded by them), the weather should be decent (it'ss the Hawkes Bay), there's flushing loos, it's not far into town (Hastings and Napier), so the wives can head off to the antique shops etc, there's a chocolate factory nearby (the kids can get all hyper for the drive home, but it'll cost), there's my favourite supermarket in Hastings (but New World's not cheap, I still think it's cool, but other shops are catching up on them).

I think there's a bicycle hire place so you can send the wife and kids off while you ride your bike. There's the seaside if you want to go to a beach. Basically, it's a good weekend away. Practice is only for a couple of hours on Saturday.

One day we might go down there and see more than just the track (and the odd vineyard), as there is lots to do, but it seems that unless there's bikes involved, neither of us are that keen (yeah, we could take the road bikes down there and need to, as I've never ridden the Napier-Taupo road, only been frustrated pillion or stuck in the van, but there seems to be so much countryside to go and ride and never enough time).

Ah well, hope others do decide to have a weekend away, and if not - book in leave for Wellington in October and Roy's Hill in December Both tracks are worth the trip

I was going to say, when I said aim for realistic goals so you're not too upset, I didn't mean aim that low.

I will say don't be surprised when you kick my ass, because I won't be Just don't try to rename any corners, leave that for GrantNZ hahaha (he knows how to crash twice on the same corner, but couldn't go for the third attempt as he broke the bike from dodgy memory lol)

WTF??? I've crashed on the same corner 3 times, once in July 2010 because I hit 2nd gear instead of 4th, and twice in Oct 2010 because I hit 2nd gear instead of 4th on the flat out sweeper past the pits. I'm sure if any of my bikes still had reverse pattern gear change, I could have added to that tally. Haven't done it since changing back to 1 down, 4 up...

I may be keen to make a trip down, do they run B Grade?
I will have to try my new van on a run tho as it's a bit like me, no longer young, it's also bloody slow so how long would it take to get there at 80kph.

Oh FFS, yes they run a B grade, often a C grade as well if you want to have a crack at that you sandbagging motherjammer. Fourth at the first round of the NI series wasn't it?

Our van aint that fast and we usually leave about 7 in the morning to get there on time for Saturday practice at 3 with some time left over to stop and piss about on the way down and visit vineyards and the like.
