Bike stand or lift options please

Hey,

I bought a 1996 Honda Hornet about a month ago. First bike and on my learners. Loving it HEAPS!

I figure now's the time to start to understand basic bike maintenance requirements. I understand I need to check tyre pressure regularly (fortnightly?) and check (tighten?) the chain from time to time as well as keep it lubricated etc.

I understand a bike stand will help me with basic chain maintenance requirements however would like to understand if these are generic or make/model specific?

Any pointers appreciated on the types of bike stands on the market and where I can pick on up?

I guess my basic requirements are to keep rear wheel off the garage floor and keep bike steady whilst tightening chain etc?

Also any ideas on any products that might help water collect/bead off my helmet when raining? First bike ride the other day with full on rain in the dark. Perhaps it's just a matter of cleaning regularly.

Oh - the PSI instructions on my swing-arm are in Japanese. Thoughts on pressures for front and rear wheels?

You dont need a stand to adjust or oil your chain,ive got both front and rear wheel stands but to be honest its this one i use more than anything else re maintenance and general fucking about with bikes.Also useful when putting your bike on ute/trailer as it doesnt need bolting down and holds it whilst you tie it down fwiw.

My stand is a block of wood cut to length so when you jam it under the RHS footpeg it lifts the wheel 20mm or so. Still, having a stand that sits the bike level will be useful for other things.
