Now we are in TOTAL AGREEMENT! OK, they've sorted some nice systems suitable for road bikes, all well and good. Now fuck it off and lets get back to the real business of finding out the best rider on the best bike. A few less engineers and laptops in the paddock would be cheaper and better racing = WIN WIN!
Nah, I wanna see how he behaves when he's in the hunt for a championship and some idjit cleans him up, then we'll see how awesome he is. I suspect he'll scream louder than his hairdresser when he/she finds chewing gum Dani stuck in his hair.
It doesn't matter how many riders superjelly puts out... riders are like bikes, we can always get more of them.
However, given that he's a little bit of a dickhead that can't stop taking other riders with him, it would be fair to level the playing field and make it a free for all (i.e. no penalty for bashing/crashing/pushing/barging). Or, better still, get rid of the riders and figure out how to get the bikes to ride themselves.
Personally I believe that GP racing has finally become a bit more interesting. Over the majority of the 800 era it has been a matter of wondering where the dominating top 4/5 riders will end up on the podium. With the exception of the odd Rossi/Stoner - Rossi/Lorenzo battle, many races have been a relative procession.
Spies taking a win and all the handbag swinging of late, have only made it all the more exciting from a spectator perspective.
I love the fact that Simonchelli couldn't give a rats ass what the Pedrosas/Stoners/moaners think.... Go the arogant Itialian......
Biaggi doesn't come across that well in public does he? I think he has bouts of short mans syndrome. I've met him a couple of times and he was really laid back. It may just be that as he gets older, like myself, the level to which you will take someone elses bullshit gets considerable lower. He ate a shitload of humble pie going to the supers, and staying on to defend his championship was a gutsy call for the old roman. His weakness IMHO is that it's really easy to get in his head and fuck with his race concentration. When that happens he falls apart like a Skoda rally car. That being said, I like him. Simo's a crazy bastard, what's not to like? You just just don't want him behind you at turn 1. Mind you, that sort of intimidation was used succesfully by crazy Nori too. Mind phucked many a racer wondering what they were going to do next.
"That's rooted!! What's next??"

Erm...naw...he was the Roman Emperor because he was from erm....Rome and Rossi wasn't.
On a 250, Biaggi was better than everyone 5 world champs...who wouldn't be arrogant? A few years back when he did his WRC stint, a New Zealand chef told me just what an arrogant little bastard Rossi is when he's out the public eye.![]()

They were Kevin Schwantz & Randy Mamola.........
Kevin..... a stuck up/pretentious little toe-rag with a im a superstar _ who the f**k are you attitude.
Randy... a top bloke/down to earth with a real likeness of anyone interested in bikes...kind of guy you would take to the pub for a drink.... and we did.
And guess who just hopped on a turbo/nitrous 400hp bike for the first time and just nailed it........... yup Mr Mamola, his comment on returning "you guys are f**king nuts"![]()

I've met him to mate, and he came across exactly as you say.
However in his defense it was a race weekend and he was qualifying badly.
After he won you couldnt of found a more gregarious guy.
Champs never lose that race face...even when it's only supposed to be "fun".
Prob why Mamola was never a champion.
Schwantz at Pukekohe for the big Classics meet a couple of years back was completely the opposite. Chilled, relaxed and would talk to anyone. Really nice guy.
I guess that's the difference between winning a world championship and not. Eye on the ball even when you're not actually racing.
