Motorcyclist dies after hitting police car?

    Fucking over-exaggerated media reporting

    "Motorcyclist collides with police car"
"The scene after a scooter hit the back of a police car today."

It was a fucking scooter!!! and obviously the usual sort of retard that rides them... if he can't see a cop car with full flashing lights, he kinda got what he deserved.

Pisses me off that any motorist on the roads can miss seeing a stoppped cop car with their lights on. Doesn't worry me that scooter riders are considered motorcyclists, lots of us ride both anyway.

He's parked on the yellow line so it must be his fault.

guess the yellow lines were there for a reason. You don't have to stop immediately it is up to you to chose a safe place to stop but the cops get a bit pissy about it if you don't stop straight away.

The thing about a scooter rider is did he even have a bike license or any bike experience or was he a car driver that had borrowed a scooter? most likely a regular rider sop how the F did he not see the flash bright lights? perhaps he thought it was a disco

    I'm confused.
How would a bike end up in the middle of the road, this is after hitting a car parked / pulled over hard on the left hand side of the road.

I mean apply a little logic / forces involved, wouldn't one end up in a different location than the middle of the road?

It bothers me, it'd be like calling car drivers truckies, or pilots astronauts. They are not! but this headline is used to spin the article, people look at it "those bikers are dangerous, they keep hurting/killing themselves" ignoring the fact it was a scooter & probably operated by a car driver not a biker, it is misleading & just more ammo in the Govt's anti bike arsenal

it's hard to see, but I think theres a dent on the drivers rear corner, so I'd say he hit the very edge of the corner & got spat out to the road

I'm guessing caught it with his left leg/left side of the bike, can imagine this happening if he was trying to split between a car and the stopped cop car at the time of the crash.

I think it'd be more like calling ute/van drivers car drivers, or helicopterists pilots (and who would do such a thing ). Unfortunately you have a point regarding tptb using scooter riders to mislead the stats, not through accident numbers though, but through the km stats.

Bugga !!! Looks like a classic Honda stepthru' .. that's a sad ending for it - even if it is a scooter .. probably been running for 30 years .. and some dick chucks it into the back of a cop car ... on what looks like a bend with good visiblity .... Fuckwit ...

Could it be a Honda Cub? If so, I think they are technically a motorcycle...

Unfortunately, a vehicle with two wheels inline and powered by an engine is a motorcycle by definition.

Also unfortunate is that, along with car/truck/bus/motorhome/ute/van drivers, those riding them are human and subject to the same human frailties, hence some will be competent and others won't be. Some will be awake and alert and others won't be...

The most unfortunate thing is that motorcyclists are more vulnerable to personal injury in an accident and per person, cost the country a lot more in care.

I doubt the Gummint is anti-bike, but they are certainly concerned at the cost in money, time, resources and pain caused by motorcycle accidents and some of the pollies are despairing at just how to get biker's to ride and act more responsibly. How do you balance personal choice with the fact that the consequences of death and injury directly impact on our already stretched health system?

If anyone has any ideas that are practical, I'm sure TPTB would like to hear them... Isn't that why they set up the bike study team? Whatsit called?

I used to ride both, but never wore the same gear or took my helmet off anywhere near the scooter so that I couldn't be identified with it.

After an old dear backed over it, whilst it was parked behind her 4x4, she said "lucky it's only a scooter" I just laughed as I couldn't disagree with her sentiment.

    How about saying "Scootercyclist" instead
