Actrix Winter Series Round 3 Mihi Banks
Finally a dry race meeting....in the middle of July!! After crashing in the last two meetings
I thought I would take this one easy and focus more on improving my technique.
Qualifying
With the track temprature being 1 degree and streetstocks not being able to use tyrewarmers, it was cold and a bit slippery but because my Heidenau tyres stick so well in tough conditions, I stayed upright
Race 1
I got a alright start but ended up at the back after a couple of corners, so I decided that I would sort out a couple of corners (Toyota) and play with some different lines and gearing, forgetting my bike was road shift after the bucket I was racing 2 weekends before was race shift I changed up a gear instead of changing down a gear into Higgins
going through Higgins in top gear wasn't my ideal plan, but turned out to work fine.
Race 2
I got a better start this time...but couldn't hold my position. Watching everyone else ride into the distance (again) after a few laps I tried to push myself a bit more and catch up to Skip who was in my reach...so i thought, but i missed by a couple of seconds. oh well theres always the next race
Race 3
My start was shit, hitting neutral insdead of second, that has to be the worst mistake I've made this year....
. Pushing myself a bit more every lap I began to get somewhere and began to trust myself and my bike a bit more in corners.
Overall i had a pretty good weekend, keeping it shiny side up, improving my body position, and sorting out my lines for next round so I can get those 1.30's
.
I would like to say a huge thanks to my sponsors and supporters: Wharfy, Ride Life, Moto Academy, Heidenau Tyres, Motodynamix, ACRfiberglass,Jeff Whitehead and a huge thanks to VMCC and their volunteers for making the day run so smoothly.
