Ok so all the planets where in alignment today, and it was a nice dry sunny Auckland day for a change, so I phoned Richard at Haldane’s to check if the Diavel was available for me to go for a skid, yup all good, so after riding a topless beauty from Calender Girls down Queen street and then over the harbour bridge to Northcote and then back to Cross street to drop her back off on the Buell I proceeded to Haldane’s. The Demonstrator Machine was the full noise Carbon version so none of this cheap base model rubbish. Richard explained the intricacies of the starting routine/security system/menu system/power mode setting/traction control setting.

Yawn just let me at the fucking bike will ya.
So after a 15 minute course in Ducati controls I actually had control. the seating position felt good aand one we were rolling the foot peg location is excelent for tall people ie knees joints not bent up too much.
The raspy bark through the exhaust was noticeable from engine start twist the throttle and the engine want's to make lots of raspy barky noise.
In Penrose there is no option other than the motorway to get somewhere to find twisty's, so that was where I headed down to the Penrose on ramp, open the taps lots more raspy barky noise and warp factor acceleration this thing is pretty aggressive on the gas in sport mode the other thing that I noticed was that it is a real shaker I thought that my Buell was a shaker but the Diavel feels like it is having a epileptic fit compared to my Buell. Yes this machine does accelerate hard enough to lift the front end unusual for something that is supposed to be a cruiser though eh.
The Diavel was easy to lanesplit with I exudes typical Ducati good handling despite the 240 wide tyre with out showing any resistance to tip into the corner brakes great,
The gearbox felt quite tight with the need to force the shifter to engage the next gear, also on the down shift it was difficult to select first unless you came to a complete stop.

So here I am I am totally in awe of the power and handling of the Diavel but am now unsure weather I could live with the lumpiness and vibration of the Diavel.
But I guarantee that anyone who buys one of these will be the traffic light drag off king.

Sorry for sharing another great ducati with everyone Scouse....truly thought ducati lovers (like yourself) would LOVE the link, and be amazed at the NCR carbon.
...but yeah, not exactly affordable or a Diavel ay.

Thanks for the ride review by the way, always nice to read the everyday guys opinion on here.

I saw one of those riding up 16 the other day. Didnt notice it was a Ducati at first. In my opinion Ducati is better at making sports bikes, and one should stick with what one is good at.
