It will be....... Cold, but no rain.... Actually, I go better in the wet.... Just don't like getting everything wet and dirty.

Check that bike over, and see you there

Select the class you would like to be riding your bike in, ie Posties or F3 etc.

What class would a 2005 636cc 4 stroke would belong to? Stock Production Cup?

Have read of the class rules. Your bike is only eligible for Superbikes.

Kawasaki made the 636 strictly for the road, not to be raced. The race bike version of yours is 600cc.

But don't let that stop you racing ! Nothing wrong with racing in clubmans for a season or two ! To get a handle on it all !

Get a MNZ race number for F1 (SB) black numers with white background and stay in clubmans for a while ! Any club meetings you race in would be eggs if they made you step up into F1 too early ! But then who knows how fast you are aye ?
Even then with cross entry as it stands now it's still good fun due to the F1 field being full of 600's, just means you won't be allowed in the F2 field, so you'd be as grumbly as the F1 boys about track time !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Oh for sure. Most people start off racing what they've got and if they're still there a couple of years later they're moving to a different bike. It's the best way to find out if it's for you or not. If it isn't then you didn't lay out lots of money on a different bike etc.

Also, get a race number across multiple classes because you might end up getting an R6 for Superstock 600 or SS1000 for Superstock 1000 or a SV650 for Pro Twins/F3 ..... you can't be sure.

Thanks for the info, I acquired a cheap cosmetically damaged 636 and have been riding it as a track bike, but will give Clubmans a go this year. Looking forward to it

6 inch are good, but the new rules require 140mm (Yes, slightly smaller).

Check out the thread "Race Numbers a Bitch" if you want to see the heat you get if the marshalls can't read them
