That muffler looks dangerously close to the ground. Sure it wont hit the ground going through corners with the suspension under pressure? You might have air leaks somewhere, i.e. poor welding, manifold damage etc. When I did this muffler upgrade my bike seemed to run better down bottom. I didn't have any trouble with the stock carb. In other words, you shouldn't be having any trouble!

You will need a bigger main jet. Remove the one you have and tell us what size it is, I might have some suitable ones here if it's a Keihin 393 series.

That pipe will drag on the ground when the suspension compresses. You won't be able to ride that at Kaitoke like that so don't bother to bring it until it is fixed. Sorry not trying to be a wanka, but you should be aware that it will damage the track. As well as likely spit you off.

Also you will need nylon over parts that scrape. Again don't bother trying your luck without protection. We need to keep this track & Fish will have to fail you without it & its unfair to pressure him.

3 whole days? - what have you been doing?

Your location sez wellington, but you will need nylon in Auckers too. All good, was just aware that there was 3 days left till the next Kaitoke race.

Yeah, you will need to tuck that muffler in better, here's mine that uses the standard muffler, well, it was standard once, now been shortened etc.

I've done a few using the stock muffler. I run them in the center with the gases exiting to the side haven't cooked any tyres yet. If you put them on an angle you may still drag it.

Do u have to cut the actual muffler its self down or just the pipe to get it to where u want it to sit.is the orignal muffler to long?

I've done both, the last one I did I just used the whole stock muffler to save messing about. I'll try and get some pictures tonight. With the whole muffler and the stock header they are damned quiet but still seem to perform OK.

There's a good thread on the FXR150 forum on how to do it here

    http://www.fxr150.co.nz/discussion/v....php?f=3&t=117

I pretty much just followed what Hamish did but have the muffler exit off plane by 90 degrees to exit to the side.
