New owners at Shelly beach...nice food but alas....no pizza this time...
    Picture perfect out there today.
After Shelly beach we went to Muriwai, I let the cat out of the bag that I want to do the Coast to Coast..Tasman to the Pacific ride, Haven't done that for a few years now.
Then we headed down the N/Western and on to see Edbear at Orewa, just got home...
    More fish for tea....

What a fabulous day! Wonderful weather, good company and a great ride. Special thanks to "Grub" for showing us those really cool roads on the way home, will no doubt become part of our ride repetoire in future.

Was lovely to meet Heather, one of Nigels friends, so I guess he will have to go back to being called Rick

Thanks guys, see you on the next one

    Wow

WOW!!!! What a day. Best riding weather ever.

Had a new experience on the Northwestern just West of Pt Chev, could feel a slight shimmer in my handlebars that got worse and worse. So left the motorway to check it out. the front tire had started delaminating. returned to Westgate for a coffee where I noticed splitting in the tread where the tire was coming apart.

Heather suggested Cycletreads would be open, so off we crept along the new motorway to the Shore. The guys at Cycletreads were absolutely great.

They changed the tire just before they closed, said if it was the rear there wouldn't have been time as the mechanic was on his way out the door to pick his kids up. Service beyond the call of duty I reckon.

Heather followed me to make sure I didn't come to grief, but all was well, thanks Heather. We returned to Westgate for that coffee $270.00 poorer but $270.00 safer. You cant put a dollar value on safety can you.

By the way, the tire was a shinko with plenty of tread on it.

All in all though a bloody fantastic day, see you all next time for the coast to coast.
    Rick.

Mark noticed you had dropped back, I just thought we were riding faster and leaving you behind So glad that happened in town though. $270, cheap as chips safety.

Scarey tyre delamination. How old was it?

Scary thing about this is that the tire was a warranty replacement for a Shinko that did exactly the same thing about six months ago.

I could have taken it back and got another free replacement, but why would I want another one delaminating in six months. I'd rather bin it and not have to worry about it. The rear is coming up for replacement soon, so it won't be replaced with another Shinko The Shinkos were on the bike when I bought it.

    Nigel.......er I mean Rick

I saw him get up off his chair and have a look outside, my impression was that he thought we were some biker gang or something...

And yeah, those roads were great!
