Hi I own a Cbr 250 rr 91. just noticed my forks are leaking badly and might need new seals. can anyone guide me in the right direction. im not mechanically minded so got a quote from Cyclespot Takapuna($220-230 is what they said) Red Baron quoted $300? should i just get it done from Cyclespot Honda? Im in Ponsonby.

Dont neccessarily go for the lowest price. There are many cheap brands of fork seal and oil on the market and that normally reflects in lower quality, more fork sel drag and shorter oil life. Ask for genuine seals or NOK brand.

I spent lots of money and numerous Friday nights over a 6 month period replacing fork seals on my old RM250 until I gave up using cheap seals (even well-known brands, All Balls etc) and bought some genuine Suzuki ones. That was 3 years ago and to my knowledge they still haven't leaked again.
Interestingly the genuine Suzuki seals were NOKs, they were $180 from Colemans, which was what was putting me off them in the first place, but I spent way more than that on all the other seals and numerous bottles of fork oil I also had to go through.

Kool Thanks for the advice guys and sorry that i made multiple posts, was loosing sleep over this, but thanks il probably buy my own seals and oil and and pay labour for it? Does anyone know what size shd i buy for the 250rr?

The best ( by far ) distributor of K-Tech stuff in NZ is Norm Cobb at Suspension Tech in Auckland, and rightfully he should really be the only distributor. Give him a call on 09 525 1249 or e-mail norm@suspensiontech.com He has been doing suspension for decades, knows more than a thing or two and will see you right.

Cheers for that Robert, finally got the seals and took it to cyclespot and paid labour. however, wen i went back to pick it up today they also told me that the steering head bearings are worn out and they didnt have it in stock so it would cost another $300 for parts and labour to fix it. so gutted that the shocks are back on and have to pay labour all over again to get it fixed. anyways my bad luck, maybe i can just get the bearings and try to look up DIY video to sort it for me. anyone here to give me any advise on that?
