You just got right up my nose ... you know nothing about me and you make snap value judgements.

I know exactly your type - 35 years ago you would have been the one sitting in the corner of the bar with your friends and sneering at me and my mates , but would not dare to say anything to my face ... I've seen your type before ... now you sity on your keyboard and chuck shit at me like that ...

Now, I was just stating what I did more than 30 years ago (probably longer than you have been alive!!!) with no attempt to appear tough or to be sorry for what I did ... just stating "this happened ..."

It was something I did more than 30 years ago .. approaching 60 I am not the same person I was then .. and the person I am now would not do that.

I am not especially proud of my past nor do I have any regrets .. my past makes me what I am today - all of it - the good the bad the crap and the good times ...

I am who I am now .. not who I was more than 30 years ago ..

Asimov's quote was in a work of fiction and was actually derived from another quote.

Just because Maha hasn't read that particular book doesn't make him illiterate.

    But this is KB........

No .. the illiterate reference was at subtle dig at his spelling - which admittedly is as bad as mine ..

So Asimov wrote fiction ... your point is?

Fiction = Not real, not to be taken for fact etc. If Asimov's quote had been from a real observation on life eg: from a leader of a nation, it might be a bit more valid don't you think?

I'm well aware that people can change dramatically over 30 years. I'm sure Deano's well aware of that as well.

Had your story been preceded with the words "I'm ashamed to say it but......" I doubt whether your story would have gotten up anyone's nose.

(I mean, you are ashamed to say it, aren't you?)

Got up your nose ? Did it take a day for it to sink in or something cause you quoted me yesterday too.

You obviously don't know my type at all. I sarcastically called you tough - thats pretty well evidenced I reckon from your comments. No snap judgements there.

The comment big 1%er and (heh heh) and the guy climbing out of the window to get away implied that you were being tough and/or thought it was funny to punch the woman.

If you had show remorse or regret for it then I wouldn't have commented. Congratulations on turning things around now though.

I feel very strongly about men assaulting women. I take your point about your father and I concede that it may be hard to break the cycle of abuse, but it is only a contributing factor, not an excuse.

And I have been in a bar where shit was going down and I called the little gang of wannabees out on it so you don't know me at all.

It came across as bragging. Re read what you wrote objectively and if your honest with yourself and us, you were trying to sound like a tough guy.

Now you re read it bearing in mind what you've read from him in the past. Not exactly a women bashing moron is he... so why would any regular KBer choose to off on that tangent based on that single post?

That doesn't belittle the value of social commentary in some fiction though.
