Sure, but something official from MAG in the Herald (rival to Fairfax) wouldn't go amiss.

Does MAG have a media spokeperson, PR etc?

Just looked through this mornings edition of Waikato times - still no comment - no letters to the editor printed. Oh well may give it one more day and then cancel the subscription. Stupid anyway it now comes out in the morning, along with the herald

Hmmm, I think it would need to be fairly different from what I sent these plonkers

, and papers couldn't print the attachment obviously, also I think they would be wary of getting into a cross paper shit-fight. But the idea is good, so will see what we can come up with.

Nah no media spokesperson, we try to encourage everyone to volunteer whatever they can, rather than putting all the responsibility on only a few people. So on that note, sign up to the forum on our site (we just gone with a new host and signup is now free), i'll put up a thread for it at some point, or whoever else can if they get there first.

Good, all it needs is a "We'd like to put the record straight" pitch. The Herald, having a nationwide circulation (and therefore reach), is a start and maybe they would like a bit of a stoush with Fairfax just for the sake of market share.

Who knows, if you word it right it might get all who are anti-ACC, and let's face it not only bikers are affected, to do something.

Don't take this the wrong way, but MAG should have nurtured media contacts. It's all about communication.

I'm reminded of a qutoe from somewhere - something about dead horses and flogging. If the mass media and tptb didn't listen to the corrected data since ages ago I don't see them suddenly overcoming their myopic deafness. ( and yes i know it's a mixed metaphor )

Maybe then, it's time we started putting some serious effort into drastically reducing the number of accidents we're having - so we've got some data they can't possibly argue with.

But there I go again - flogging that proverbial horse.

But if the media release to the Herald is correctly written it would include "and look what we bikers are doing to improve safety" etc etc. That's part of setting the record straight. Do the public know what's going on? They only know what they're told....

Do we? I have no idea what you are referring to here. What are 'we' doing to improve safety?
