Hey Chris, James from work here, I know cycletreads stock those Motobatt batteries (I have one in the aprillia, works well and a good price). But thats a hike from your place, ring the Puke Bike shops and DPC, someone is bound to have something that fits.

I'd offer to bring you one down (and accidentally go all the way out to raglan) but I'm crook with the manflu (near death I tells ya).
    Ciao Marco

I got mine from a battery shop in Papatoetoe - not far from the centre of old Papatoetoe as I recall.
Have a look in the yellow pages and make a note of the battery model cos they didn't have a clue about the various vehicles that it was used in.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Hey Chris, Can't you just charge it overnight ?

Those Gel batteries are very good. I bought one a few months back here: http://www.motoworks.co.nz/shop/189-...x-battery.html - as cheap as chips, a higher spec than stock, and a great performer.

Unless you want to part with $200 or so, I'd charge the old one.

    Good luck.

    Tried recharging it.

What happened. Left the lights on when I parked it on Wednesday night. Dead Thursday morning. Went to get a charging unit from Repco. Got a good one 3 stage, deep phase. Left it on all day and night. Started fine this morning. Got as far as takanini straight and the instruments blanked, tacho died. turned lights off all came back. Got to work, parked in garage, turned bike off they tried to restart. Faioled. not enough whoomph. End of the day went down to bike thought I would try. Bike turned over. Stopped for gas, bike wouldnt start. Got a jump start. made it as far as Bombay gas station. Bike died. Jump started it and it ran for 1 km. Electronic fuel injectors need power to run them. No power no fuel. Jump start and it runs on what is pulled into injectors. then dies. New rectifier 6 weekss ago. No sign of heat from that so all ok there. rectiier sends power to battery, everything runs from battery. rectifier not able to charge battery so it just runs for a short time.

New Battery is gotta be the easiest way to go. f this doesnt fix it then I have real problems

Chris, I hate to say it, but those symptoms could also be a charging circuit failure. I've been fooled before. That's how I got a new battery (from Papatoetoe) that I didn't actually need.
Do you have access to a multi -meter?
If so, measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running and with it stopped. The running voltage should be at least 1 volt higher than the stopped voltage and ideally between 13 and 14 volts.
If it's not, then it looks like the charging circuit is poked. The regulators run hot normally, so a cold one is a bad sign.
Maybe I can help. If you are still out the back of Onewhero, I'm not that far away. I'll offer to hook you up as a friend, so you can see my contact details and you can make your own call.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Test your relay as well,as a faulty relay can make you spend more than is required...

What condition is your stator?? Cheak the colour of the stator/alternator plugs for any discolouration in the plug pins ie darker, also cheak your 30amp fuses (Green pin) for any over heating in the plastic most likely be the left hand fuse off the 2,

    hope the pics help

Sounds like more than a battery problem.
The regulator NOT heating up means its probably not doing anything.
Either the regulator or the stator or both. The plug between the regulator and stator can give problems.
If you need a battery we have Motobatt in stock
And we also stock the heavy duty mosfet regulators
I'm at work for a couple of hrs this morning
    otherwise good luck

    Thanks for all the assist.

Got a new battery. Fitted. Bike running sweet. Looks like it was on its end of life.

No problems riding , no signs of overheating, rectifier warm to touch,

lights nice and bright, electronics all working.

I imagine it would with a new battery, but have you tested the voltage back to the battery while running?

Sticky thread in the Electrical section of this site (where you posted your problem) ----> use the troubleshooting chart in that thread. It will confirm that it was only the battery, or it might save you another breakdown if that was not the only faulty bit...
