Space for a bike, or able and willing to tow a trailer to the GP but going other way?

I am going delay the third cycle of my chemo so I can make the 6 November meet at Taupo and am looking for either a ride for my bike and me or people to share the travel costs (I'll supply the tool kit) with me.

It will cost me $250 for the return trip for fuel and could take up to 2 other people including their bikes (working out to be $84 - $125 ea), plus one more passenger.

Forget the GP and do exactly what your doctors tell you, there will be other race meets but if you dick about with your treatment you may not be alive to see them.

On top of this, your health probably aint going to be the best by GP day so you may be out there endangering yourself and others, would be a damn shame to get there and be told to sod off until you can get a medical clearance from somewhere to race, and if I was the steward on the day that is exactly what I would be asking you for.

George, do talk to your family and doctor. You know what's going on with you, how you felt at Kaitoke the other month (seems a long time ago, but not so long as well).

Don't endanger what is being done to you by a silly little race. There will be others, if you can come spectate, that would be cool. I too think that, at the moment, it's not in your best interest and would hate to have you regret it in the not-too-distant future.

If you're up for it next weekend, we'll talk it out over a beer (or two). There's nothing to stop you smack talking, but please, don't do anything rash.

In January, we've got Taumaranui, with other North Island rounds being planned, and hopefully another GP earlier in the year - plan for that one instead

Then again, I don't really know what you're going through, I really just don't want to see you doing something stupid at this stage of treatment.

Thanks for the thoughts but that meet may be my last for a while. I have also checked this with the doctors and they don't see a problem and if required will bring a medical certificate from them.

I have though long and hard about this and considering I've raced the last three and may be able to do so the the future I decided to go with my usual base decision motivation; "not to live with any what ifs." I spent a good amount of time Kaitoke yesterday and while being worn out was stoked with my progress (my laps were back down in the low 46 secs).

If I don't feel up to it I simply won't go out and get to watch a great days racing. After the third cycle of chemo all the results will be in so 1 more week won't make any difference to any treatment regime.

This way I get to have some fun the way i want to before life gets all serious.

This also gives me a chance to work towards and help keep me positive.

George (Michelle here), we do understand, and so long as it's all cool and not going to interfere with treatment - bring it on!!!!

But do be sensible, we want to see you back out there in the long-run.

Lol, I was going for an operation a number of years ago, and had been told that if something happened, I'd know all about it and to head straight to the hospital. On our way to go camping and riding dirtbikes, it happened, I knew all about it, but didn't dare tell anyone as it'd ruin our weekend. I was in a lot of pain all weekend, didn't ride much because of it, and got told off by Henk on the way home for not telling him. There wasn't any danger, it was just going to be painful (I think), but not one of my smartest moves. My operation was booked for the Wednesday afterwards, hence my thinking

But it was a fun weekend and while I can still remember the pain, it was worth it for the memories. See, I do understand
