While this story itself might not be deemed big, the issue of wrong information being published by the media is big.

Also a pity the instigator of the idea didn't help follow through with it, but a surprise? no.

    Me?

I wrote to them, cancelled my subscription and wound up several local bike dealers.

Nah not you, was talking about the people who expect MAG to run with their ideas, but aren't willing to help out.

If you're talking about me, I asked a question initially, it wasn't an idea.

Here's another one: Don't you think it would have been much more effective for MAG to have contacted the Herald instead of a member of the public?

But the question developed into an idea, otherwise how could you say the oppourtunity was missed?

It depends on how it is written and for what purpose, some of our previous responses had any MAG association removed before print. TBH I didn't initially realise your idea was to create a stoush between the two media companies. In this aim I don't think it would make any difference who sends it in as I reckon it'd be binned regardless. But can't see any harm in trying, either personally, or under the MAG name.

My inital question was about putting the true facts across. That was the goal.

I wrote that the Herald may like a stoush over market share which is an accepted objective of sales and marketing.

The Herald would not have binned it, they (editorial newsdesk) told me they would be interested in publishing the story when I rang them yesterday after Big Dave said they wouldn't go for it.

Who better to approach them than an organisiation that's supposedly for Bikers?

Well it sounds like you have already done a good amount of work on it then, why not draft something up, run it through the MAG forum and get some more info/filler/grammar check/etc, then send it in with the MAG name attached.

I'm 'interested' in what Indy says too - but I wouldn't publish it
